It looks like some sore of LED. It looks like it was installed after the fact, and I don't recall seeing this on my 2006 model, but its on my 2009.

further than I can trace. It is zip-tied to the headlight wires, and follow them beyond what I can see with the flyscreen off. Oddly enough, there is a bracket on the back of my flyscreen that holds the wire in place so you can just barely see the tip when its put together.
 
Is there an alarm system on the bike? Looks like an alarm warning LED.

that is what I was thinking, but I am not the original owner. When I bought the bike last week, I was given just two ordinary buell keys. If it is an alarm, the way it is installed makes it look like a factory option?
 
it's a shift-light. follow one lead to main harness and you'll see that it probably connects to same color wire feeding one side of the coil. appears that it can also double as a procedural colonoscopy camera as well.
 
Whatever happened to the not broke.... Don't fix?
that died years ago right about the same time people started modding cars,bikes,planes and boats.a very few old slow guys still preach it though
