This bike is so alien to me. Coming from the Jap i4 world I feel like I'm playing with a flying saucer.

This is inside the air box, in case my picture is disorienting.

That is the intake air temp sensor. It measures the air temps and allows the ECM to calculate the density of air the manifold needs.

it helps the ecm calculate the air/fuel ratio according to intake air temp. and those 2 hoses on either side are the crank case breather hoses those are what are rerouted when you do a breather reroute which if you do a search on this forum you will find has been discussed quite often and are many how-to's on the subject

morehpforme,

You can download service manuals through the link at the top of this page. Very helpful. Even if you're exact year or model doesn't match, the majority of the basics and DIY items are the same on the XB's.

Thanks for the quick responses!

Steve, that's a ton of information, thanks! I'll look through there first from now on.

Oh, and if you just want one for the Lightnings, I have an '04 service manual in .PDF I can e-mail you.

Edit: Post up your e-mail if you want the Lightning manual.
