Current helmet is a Shoei Quest

Next helmet will be the Shoei GT Air in the Cog design

I had an HJC FG-17, and now wear a Shoei RF1200.

The Shoei seems to be a much better helmet, to me. It's lighter and far more comfortable.

HJC FG-17 Thrust -Red is my current helmet, had a Sparx which was great, just as good as any other brand on the market though bagged on due to cheap selling price, yet met or exceeded the required ratings both stateside and across the pond, and half the weight. would have bought another Sparx, but the graphics choices aren't to my liking.

I have a Shoei RF 1100. I feel like the Shoei is meant for more aggressive, track oriented riding, where you are leaned forward with your chin down, with a front fairing, like on the Firebolt. On the Lightning, with the more upright riding position and no front fairing, I feel like the Shoei is not the best choice, because the wind gets under the chin of the helmet and creates turbulence and resistance.

My next helmet will be an Arai Defiant. The Arai is more of a bucket style helmet and it is better at dealing with wind when sitting more upright, like on the Lightning.

You can see how the design of the Arai has been thought out more for a rider that will be sitting more upright with direct wind blast to the face.

I have an Arai Defiant, flat black model with the extra drop down tinted shield.
It's an expensive helmet, but for me well worth the cost.
it's comfortable, well vented, and I use the tinted shield way more than I originally thought I would,
And surprisingly, the tinted shield has no effect or drag when it is open, even though it is external.

I wear a Shoei also. Have worn Shoei for many years, the fit my head better that Arai. Buy a $5 helmet for a $5 head is the advice I was given years ago.

Have worn Shoeis and Arais in the past but recently tried a Fly Paradigm and it fits me better than most. Protected my head and neck well in a crash last year too so its been tested and passed. Found the current one online for half what I paid at a local dealer for the first one.

I have had 2 Shoei RF1200s,the first one(matte black) was slid down DE Rt13 with my head inside of it and then I replaced it with the exact same model. I'm thinking they were around $450 give or take and I bought a dark smoke shield for each of them at around $50 a piece. I also bought thinner cheek pads because of my fat face, they were around $35 and we'll worth it.

Edit:
I don't know what shape my head would be classified as but the large shell with the 31mm cheek pads seems a perfect fit for me. I would say the helmet is very light but don't have much personal experience to compare to other helmets. Air flow keeps me comfortable for the most part but on really hot and humid days I open the shield whenever I get the chance for some extra cooling.

I have always liked and owned HJC helmets. Still have a few but my main riding helmet at this time is a Variant Construct. Been very happy with it and is always my go to helmet

click on the imagine in the middle, select choose file, and then upload file after you have selected the pic. You will see attachment info in text box when done correctly. Hope this helps.
