Hi guys,
These pictures are of the muffler which came on my 04 XB12R when I bought it from the previous owner. He claims never to have customized it in any way. The muffler has lifting points marked on it and appears to have the flap/valve of a stock muffler, but has two outlets.

Any ideas what kind of pipe I have here? Is it stock, Spec Ops or something else? It sounds pretty good, but then I have not really anything to compare it to :)

Thanks for the help

Hey dmp0001, thanks for the reply, I wondered if that might be what it is, or whether it might be an early Spec Ops pipe - after all he basically starts with a stock pipe and chops it, though I am sure he does other things to it as well.

How has he been making his pipes for?

Thanks d_adams!

I could well be one of his early ones then as it was put on the bike sometime between '04 & '09.

I've emailed Odie to see if he recognises it.

Thanks onelogue,

I am so new to Buells I didn't think of a Hawk. I will email him as well to see if he recognises it.

To answer the question, after speakig with Randy he thinks it is one of his early pipes to which someone added the extra baffles.

So it appears I have a Hawk pipe, which is awesome.

Now my question is: When I open up the breathing by doing a breather re-route and putting a free-flowing air filter and doing airbox mods, am I better off dataloging & modifying maps or should I just go with an EBR ECM?

I imagine I still need ecmspy to reset the TPS in either case, right?

Thanks for the help

A breather re-route doesn't open up the breathing. A free-flow air filter (like a K&N) will.

Datalogging and tuning is always better than the alternative. I can help you with that if you want: The Tuniversity.
