I have an 09 XB12Ss wanted to change my own oil and was wondering what oil you guys recommend. Even if its the more expensive i don't care i rather keep my motor clean and avoid issues later on.

Amsoil, Mobil 1 synth, and royal purple seem to be top choices.

For future reference to help you searching for answers, you can search this forum using google. And I offer that as help, not telling you not to post questions! [up]

Type in the search bar.......site: BuellXB.com oil, or what ever the topic is and you'll find many different thread options with quality info!

There's also a DIY thread here with videos, oil change being one of them. It's on the top right side of the page >>>>>

Blaze dude bro, your about to get flamed hard. You just touched on the most talked about topic on the forum. Senior members just ruled you as "i hate this guy" jk but seriously this is an on going joke, its so so over talked about. Even i did this to an extent. I posted 20w50 vs 50 and some great info came of it but seriously google "buellxb" bet you find a ton of oil threads before anything else.

Heres the break down use yourself a full synthetic 20w50 in the engine, and a true primary case fluid like formula plus (just switched to this and noise difference wow) Or like me you can run cheetah blood as oil and unicorn farts as fuel.

My engine really gets mobil 1 v-twin full syn, and formula plus in the primary. Change 3 but before 5k and check every ride! Ive made a thread searh it "pre ride checks" for things to go over before a full days venture.

Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT use anything other than genuine H-D brand motor oil!!!

well said sire!!!! and let's not forget that H-D lubricants come from mother H-D's own oil wells and refineries which are located in the same Troy, WI industrial park as the former Buell plant making those lubricants unique to that geographical locale. i am also of the understanding that use of NON H-D oils will void your factory warranty. :p
