Today I went to start my bike and the neutral light wasn't on even though the bike was in neutral. I had to pull the clutch in to start the bike. I went for a short ride and turned the bike off. When I turned it back on, everything was normal. So what gives??

maybe bad neutral switch

test it: remove the sprocket cover, disconnect wire lead from switch, turn ignition key on, touch the wire to suitable ground...if the lamp lights, the problem is at the indicator switch, replace it. if the lamp does not light, problem somewhere in the system, check for loose connections, burned out indicator lamp or faulty wiring.

I've been riding it with no problems. I would still like to know the problem in case it returns.
