What tires do you have?

Buellxb Forum

usually run Dunlop RoadSmarts, awesome wear, long life...was low on $$$ recently and now I'm running Shinko Ravens, 200 miles shy of putting 10k on 'em, only complaint is with the front tire design having the channel in the center...gets into the rain grooves on the freeway and a bit unsteady, other than that great tires for the price:D

im at 9,200 on the stock set of scorpion sync's the rear is maybe 1/32 from becoming a slick but the front hardly has any wear. just ordered a new sync for the rear to keep a matching set of tires then once the front and this new rear wear out im planning on going with the 2ct's

1st question: Has anyone tracked their xb12s with a 190 on the rear? How did you like it?
2nd question: Are there any clearance issues at all running a 190?

Thanks![up]

I've been through a few tires. I absolutely love my Conti Sport Attack 2's on my 08 bolt. Running stock sizes. A wider rear tire will change the geometry, which in turn, will reduce handling.

Hey Pharaoh, I ran a 190 for a while. It fit fine and rode fine. But...before my track day I had a 180 put back on it. I just figured if I'm gonna run it that hard it should have the size it was made for. I did like the look of the 190 better though.

I liked running a 190 (mainly because I think it looks cooler) but since I have bad luck and get punctures ALL THE FRIGGIN TIME i went back to 180/55 because they are much more affordable. Stuck with Pirelli Diablo (rear) from motorcycle superstore, shipped for $124. Same on the front.

I've been running PP2CT's the last few changes but have a new set of PR2's ready to install now. Hoping to get a little more longevity out of them while not losing much performance. As others have said, it appears that the PR2's are up to the task. Been real happy with Michelin's tires thus far. The original Dunlops wore way too quick for me!

Pirelli Diablos for me

Metzler M3's for me.

thats what i am running. the m1's were on the bike when i got it. to me they wear great and great tracktion in the rain. got mine though black hawk custom out of califorina, through aafes. cant remeber what i paid for them. i run the factory sizes. the tire shop up the street put them on for me. charged me 30 bucks for everything. i just droped the bike off and they did all the work.

I have Scorpion Syncs right now until they finish wearing out. I had Metzeler M5s on my old bike and really liked them, I might try to find another set of them. I get my tires through Cycle Gear to get their road hazard warranty on them; I have great luck in finding nails on the road.

Just put the Michelin 2CT on my XB12S. They stick. It did not take long to scuff them in compaird to the one compound Pilot Powers. Michelin makes a great tire.

I got continental conti motion. Its more of a sport turing tire but hold really good once wormed up and the wear is great. Plut they are cheap... best bang for the buck imho

Thanks guys. Did you run a 50 or 55 series? I'm assuming 190/55/17. Not sure yet which I'll choose as this will mainly be my commuter not track bike, even though I plan to track it a few times a year.

angels on the wife's ss. only a couple grand miles on 'em and they're pretty sweet. I have some Conti-motions on the SST (new to me). jury's still out. they seem ok and I see alot of good reviews, especially for the wear vs $$ vs grip aspect. They look about 1/2 worn. we'll see

Most run a 190/50 me included

Cool. Have you run a 55 series for comparison? Just curious. Also, are you able to completely scrub in to the edges the 190s on the track and/or street? Wondering how the geometry changed and if the XB worked well on the 190/50 or 190/55. Thanks much! [up]
