What tires do you have?

Also, are you able to completely scrub in to the edges the 190s on the track and/or street?

I have 1/4 chicken strips, because I am a chicken. There have been talks about the 190 on here and people have no problem getting rid of the chicken strips.

Keep 180/55R17 and 120/70R17 to best handling... I will install a new Q3s set tomorrow!

Have you owned a Buell long enough to go through a set of tires and try a 190? Or are you just saying it because other people say it.

My bike feels exactly the same with a 190 as it did with a 180.

Is my own opinion. I had the 190s (Michelin CT2s) in one of nine Buells I had in the past and feel no good, again is my own opinion. Do you any technical data the saying 190s are better that 180s? please share the tire brand.

I run a 190 Power 2ct, I never said they were better I said they felt the same as far as handling goes.

Wonder if it's brand of tire or type of Buell........

My XBSs had a Metzeler M3 190 on the rear when I bought it and I didn't care for the way the bike handled in the corners. Turn in felt "heavy", had to put some effort into initiating the turn.

Put on a Michelin Pilot 180 and it made my bike a lot more nimble, turn in is now effortless.

Yup, the heavy turn in is exactly what I don't want. I ran a 190 on my track bike that usually runs a 180 and I didn't like it. Obviously the geometry of the tire is much different and if the bike wasn't designed for a 190, then it will feel odd. However, a lot of racers prefer the 190 for more edge grip, but I'm not a racer, just a TD lover :D

I think I'll stick with the 180 when I buy my next set of sticky tires for the xb [up]

I have angels and they are great tires I ride every day on twistie back roads being my 12 is my daily driver I have at least 3k probly more like 4k not 100% sure cause my speed sensor was out since March but went from Florida to Virginia on them and they nearly looked new still... and I like how you have the wear indicators for the first 100-150 miles. I would buy again. got them both for great price from Coleman powersports Woodbridge Virginia.... cheapest price for tires I have found and with all brands.

Apologies for restarting an older thread...
I am needing new tires and see the Pirelli Sync is no longer available. I have run through a set of the power pilot 2Ct's and I'd actually prefer the Sync for overall performance. Anyone tried a tire comparable to the old Sync? Are the new Scorpion Trails basically the same tire?

Thanks in advance!

My pilot 2ct's lasted over 20k miles before getting to the point of replacement.. daily driver and twisty rides through the summers... best tires imo... I will stick with the pilots.. have the 3's on now and so far so good.

I would love to see a Michelin Pilot Power 2ct last 20,000 miles. It would be one for the record books.

I did it... granted I dont have proof or the old tires... I received the bike with 19k miles.. and just replaced them and bikes at about 37k... ok sorry 18k miles on those tires that I know for sure of.. and I know they were on the bike for atleast a year before I got em...

I'm just saying, I had them on a lighter, cbr600rr and only got 12,000 on a front tire. Proper inflation, never cupped. The rears only got 6500 ish miles before showing cords. No burn outs, didn't ride hard, just a daily commuter.

Finding Perellis was a nightmare...

Long story short: new dealers for South Africa = limited stock at moment...

Ended up with a Metzeler Karoo 3 (170 60/17) as it was all I could find.
Looks pretty cool though!

Hitting the dirt later this afternoon for the whole weekend - can't wait!

OOH, forgot to mention this!
Shop people were really funny!
Fitter came in saying if I knew it was a dual sport/adventure tyre.

I said yes, please go ahead.

Sales lady asked when I went to pay: "Are you taking the Buell off-road?"

:D:D:D:D

Pilot power 3 up front 34 psi is good balance between grip and comfort, PO put a 190 pilot power 2CT but struggling to see why will most likely put a 180 pilot power 3 on. Have pilot power 3 on my TL1000R and they have preformed very well.

I run the Michelin Power 2CT they stick like glue. My brother has them on his CBR1000 & he loves them. Those Metzelers look awesome on the XB12X

I just put a set of Conti Street Attacks on the R1200S. I'm still scrubbing them in, but pretty promising so far. I'll keep you guys updated.

Oh - it had a set of Road Attacks on it before with about 2700 miles on them. Apparently the previous owner never took a corner with the bike, because the chicken strips were HUGE and the centers a little flat spotted. Leads me to believe that the Conti's mileage may not be that great.

The S20s I have on the XB12R are a great tire - lots of grip and even wear. About 1.5k miles on them so far and they still have lots of tread. No real rain experience with them however - I'm a pansy and don't ride in the rain :)

Ben K.

EDIT: All sizes are 120/70F and 180/55R
