Hate to see a Buell off the road. So for your clever guys, how should I go about fixing this? I Have some ideas but lets hear others.

New set of cases. You could try welding it back together, but I wouldn't. Re-thought this, there's too much liability if it breaks again and you get injured in a bad crash.

Occasionally a used motor will come up on fleabay, I'd look there and then forums online, possibly craigslist as well.

I wouldn't have it welded... I would find used cases, get all new seals and bearings and do a complete engine rebuild

Its not mine BTW i did not do this. A friend avoided a car that stopped abruptly in front of her and she went down, the back hit something hard, rear rims destroyed, swing arm broken in 5 seperated pieces, both rear and front engine mounts broke bent handle bars, and that broken part of the case.

My thought is replace the broken parts around the engine. I have rims, swing arm, brakes, plastics, tires, sprockets and belt already just sitting....then the engine, cut the case flush where its broken, drill and tap two large holes and thread, have a piece of aluminum machined to match the pivot bolt, use 2 grade 8 or if possible stronger bolts to clamp it all together.

In my opinion…

Do not weld or modify the load bearing suspension components on this bike… especially because it is not yours. If a catastrophic failure occurred while the individual was riding it, you would bare the liability. (Besides the fact that you would feel like dirt because of the consequences of your actions.)

Call her insurance, and buy a new one.
No insurance? Bite the bullet and scrap it or part it out[sad]

I TIG'd on a busted kickstand mount one time but there is simply no way to repair that damage safely without new cases. Welding the case is scetchy, even when it's not the part that holds the whole rear on (and takes a beating).
Bolting it? fuggedaboudit[down]

This repair wouldnt be for her, if i could repair the existing case id be keeping the bike for myself. As it stands she had liability on it, and its scrap. Between all the other stuff and an engine or cases cant justify the cost to fixing it

The cases cost on their own isnt the issue. Its the cost associated with rebuilding the engine. Trust me I'm a scientist with a nobel prize.... Ok thats a lie but i have rebuilt my own engine and it wasnt cheap. Plus all the other damages.

Is a motor rebuild cheaper than buying a used motor?
Xb9 engine can be had for a $1000, so thats cheaper than a rebuild with cases, but EvilBay a xb12 $1800.... So the cost is getting way up there.
