Okay so I have a job interview at a really big compressor company installing and maintaing compressors and I'm not sure how to dress for it. I don't wanna go in street clothes but I Also don't wanna go in a Suit lol I think that will be to over the top for what I am applying for. So what do you guys think?
Thanks.

Dress how everyone else dresses there too. Its actually just as bad to over dress as it is to under dress. If everyone who isnt working on the floor is wearing suits, wear it. If they are wearing causal nice clothes, wear that.

Darker slacks will show you are not scared to get dirty. Go with some brown slacks, brown shoes, and some sort of darker colored button up shirt. Bonus points if your "dressy" brown shoes are actually steel toes.

Haha it acutaly is my birthday week so this might work! Haha just kidding but honestly I don't no what everyone else is wearing haven't been there yet.. It's acutaly my best friends dads company and he set me up with the interview With his plant manager. I shoulda asked him when he offered me the job but unfortunately I didnt and it's obvi to late for that. So honestly what would you wear?

I interviewed for a few places like that. I would wear nice dark dress pants with a tucked in button down shirt and nice black or brown dress shoes. It's not overdressed, but it shows that you take yourself seriously. haha. Don't just go in casual street clothes.

Call your friend and have him call his pops. You only get one chance to make a first impression. There are so many things to be focused on going into an interview, you shouldn't be worried about how to dress. One less thing to worry about!

Call your buddy. Hell, he may know what they are wearing if its his pops company??

Good luck brotha! Hope it goes well for you!

I was always told to dress for one position above the one your interviewing for. Dont know if that helps at all. But good luck man.

Just called my friend happened to be with his dad so I just talked to him. I'm going with the one piece Adidas jump suit with some matching adidass and the tear off pants these people who are about to interview me don't kno what's coming to them! Hahah nah he told me to wear dress clothes So I'm Gunna go with some black dress pants some shiny leather shoes and a spiffy blue button up shirt with my trench coat and 2 sawed off shotis just incase I don't get the job..

Thanks for all the good lucks btw! I'm pretty pumped been working at this bike shop for to long time to make moves!

I feel you on this, I got laid off in december so my 2012 has been nothing but applying and interviewing. Good luck!

I interviewed with a high compressor job in Pennsylvania I wore a collared polo shirt and black slacks with black work boots, didn't get the job. I wore a wool suit and shoes to the next interview and got it. I have also heard for technician jobs always dress one position above for the one your interviewing for. All other jobs wear a suit, dark gray, black, then dark blue in that order of preference. I would have at least wore a button down the font shirt and a tie if I could do the Pennsylvania interview again since everyone there had polo shirts for work cloths.

always dress as best as you can, for any job interview. ask any recruiter or hr persons. I always wear a dress shirt very nice tie dress slacks dress shoes socks same color as the slacks, for any and every job i have ever interviewed for including car maintenance and all my other dirty jobs and especially for jobs that have lots of VIP clients like my now job at a VIP aircraft completions company. ( I dont have a suit jacket that fits right so i dont wear it(it needs tailored) but if you have one i suggest it) remember the first impression is the MOST important !

good luck BentLife hope you get it.

got the job mother fuckers just needa pass a drug test next week and im in!!
Good luck studying for that.

I've worn a suit to every job I've ever interviewed for, and I was hired every time. I work at a brokerage firm now. I think dressing up that much shows that you're serious about wanting the job.

Congrats on being hired. Dressing up always helps. I've seen guys come in to apply where I work with tshirt all untucked and holes in jeans and I wouldn't hire them to take out the trash lol.
