I need a new battery for my bike. The HD battery cost 100$ new, the lithum battery cost 165 with 11lb weight savings. To me the answer was obvious to get the 165$ cause that seems like a better deal. Esp since it would give my storage area in my CR more room!

Anyways someone on CL threw a wrench in my plans and has a feb 2011 HD battery for $50. Keeping money savings in mind would you just go with that battery or not chance that it could be bad and get a new one?

As a side note, would you notice the 11lbs of weight savings?

Never played w. A light battery, but id go new. There just to important to take chance on IMO.

The one on CL may have been allowed to drain down, 1, 2 ,3 or more times, u never know. I would go new just for the piece of mind.

I just picked up a DEKA battery with 220 CCA for $70 brand new. 1-year warranty. I would suggest staying away from the HD battery....like everything else HD, you're paying for the name.

I just bit the bullet and bought an HD one. The original lasted from 05-2013 so i think it was worth every penny.

There are three bike related things I would not consider buying used:

Helmet
Battery
Boots (only because I'm weird about my feet)

I dont know how hard the cr is to crank over, but the li-ion battery in my xb(12 cell ballistic) resets the clock whenever its cold(anything under 70 it seems) until the battery warms up. kind of frustrating

Well then, looks like you guys have one opinion on the matter.

Solves that!
