Im trying to get a good idea on where my suspension should be. Ive done the book and gone up and down. It handles good but im just trying to get some discussion/ideas on here.

I go by the manual for my weight except I put the compression 1/4 turn soft. some of the roads here are on the rough side and this helps take the edge off.

i first set my settings to my weight with gear 240lbs.
then i change the rear rebound 3/4 turns in(make it harder or move faster) and compression 1/2 out (to make it softer) because i like to drift the rear or have it push and keep the rear tire planted down on the ground
the front i have it set at a little under 3 and 3/4 turns out on both comp and rebound which gives me faster steering and the bike dose not want to stand up in the turns under hard braking
here is a old video of one of the back road trips to give you a idea of my riding style.

I would like it to feel easy to pull over into a turn and easy to pull out of the turn (quickly and effortlessly). I have my rear suspension set to preload 5, rebound/compression set to the manual (enhance) my front 7 or 6&1/2 lines showing and the rebound/compression to the enhanced manual specs. Starting from 160lbs rider.

I feel as tho the bike is stable in the turns when it is turned expect for the occasion feeling of my rear tire not wanting to grip the lower i get. It also feels alittle heavy to bring back straight (tho not the worst) but feels as tho if i had to bring it up fast the front would wipe out.

I would like to have a set up that could be great on the track, at least then i can go back to a easier setup (riding position)

Should i lower the front? The rear?

Before you say i should learn how to ride, i am counter steering i just think that the effort put into the bars should be lower since our bikes are cornering machines. I was able to carve better with my gs500f. Im just asking for some help in ideas. I really wish i just had someone who had a buell set up for carving to ride my bike or tell me their settings. :)

now when you say
expect for the occasion feeling of my rear tire not wanting to grip the lower i get.
is the bike getting squirrely? are you running off the rear tire i.e no chicken strips? running tires cold? right tire pressure?

you need to keep in mind there is a big weight difference between the buell and the suzuki so it will take a little effort to throw it around

no its not a car and unless you are vertically challenged your fine.

With the tire, no its not coming off. I have about an 1/4 in maybe less strip. Right pressure, and they are warm. Its just doesnt always feel "planted" which just may be the tire i have on it. The standard diablo with its alittle harder then most.

With the lowering i am meaning the preload positions.

Thanks for helping

your tire should be fine. i still run the pirelli's are you still running a 180?

next time you feel like it's a little loose check your body and seat position.
you can try setting your bike up 20 lbs over your weight and see if that helps too.
i would not go less on the spring rate. at higher speed it will have more of a caddy feel (soft feel with slow turning speed)
