Had to get some new star and hex bits and a breaker bar from lowes, spent about an hour following the guidance of the owners manual, and now my bike looks like this:

Taking the wheels to get the tires swapped out tomorrow (and getting the rear repaired with a proper patch stem because of another god damn screw!), then bolting all the hardware onto the new tires and hopefully getting everything back together in time for a ride before the weekend is over!

Good luck, looks like a mission... props for doing it yourself. I just dont have the time

Thanks...so far have only busted 1 knuckle while breaking a bolt free. Going to do my 10k service myself as well...hoping that goes well, too!

Nice job. I don't quite trust myself enough. Which tires did you put on this time? If I remember correctly, you had Pilot Road 2 tires on it. What kind of mileage did you get from them?

I recently put a set on my Scg, but only did about 500 miles before putting the bike away for the winter, so it's too early to tell.

I actually swapped the road 2's from my red wheels to the black, the tires on the black wheels were trash. What I thought was a sheared off nail in the rear turned out to be a piece of glass that was pretty superficial, so no repair was needed.[up]

I have about 4.5k on the road 2's so far and there is very little wear noticeable...I expect (and hope) these to last 15k or so.:D

Now if it would just stop raining here I could take it for a test ride and make sure I didn't screw something up!

2ct's Like velcro. Havent used road 2's but my father inlaw runs em on his katana and loves them.

I love them...commute about 300 miles/week for work but still want something that will hold up to aggressive twisty riding on the weekends. These do that with ease, plus they are holding up excellently, should last quite a bit longer than my last crap oem tires...
