I would suggest getting them powder coated instead but that is my opinion as powder coating will be more durable.

Mine are at the powder coater right now. In my opinion itx the only way to go. There is an awesome thred on here how to home annodize. (sp?)

I have a set of road race wheels for my Mustang that I had powdercoated in 1997. They're black powdercoat over plain cast aluminum, and in all these years I have yet to put a single rock chip or scratch on them.

I beat the ******* out of my Mustang and the wheels have taken a righteous flogging in the process. I've been a fan of powdercoating ever since I had this done.

i was going to get them powdercoated but then was just entertaining the idea of anodizing. Anodizing shoud be stronger then power since it penetrates into the alumimum, where power sits on the surface and "could" chip. I have been powdercoating at home for years now and have coated many things with great results. However, i still have not gotten around to building a larger over so i cant powdercoat my swing-arm and forks at this time. I was just going to get a price on powder and anodizing. Probably going to go powder since i have several local places by me but figured i would ask to see if anyone has gone the anodized route and could recommend someone to do it.

thanks

I know a local place by me which specializes in Buells www.grandstanddesigns.com has told me that annodizing is stronger and the preferred method for forks. Which is why most factory parts go this route. You can powder, but it would be a royal PITA to get them back through the trees without scuffing or scratching them.

i have tried to contact grandstand before by email, probably 5 times of so over the course of 6 months with no replies.

Also, Anodize doesnt add any real thickness like powder.

i found a place that will do them for me, for what i think is a great price. Price includes striping the old anodize and sending them back to me so i can polish them on the lathe. Then return them and have them HARD Anodized in black.
