I use Sidi Fusions. I love'em. I originally had an older pair of waterproof A* SMX's and the velcro stopped working well really quick. The Sidi's just feel like better built boots. Perfect fit right on my shoe size, straps in nice and tight but you dont feel like the zipper will get blown out. Top notch shiza, nothing but praise.

I have never had Dainese boots, but if they are built like their gloves I would put much store into them. I'v had two pairs of Dainese gloves, both failed ultra fast for one reason or another under normal ridding conditions.

I have Aerostitch Combat Lites. They will last forever and have replacable soles. Built like a brick S$%# house. They take forever to break in. Not high tech looking but well worth the $300.00. May not be light/flexable enough for racing. If you want boots that will last you to the grave these are the ones.

Oh also I live in the south where during the summer it's 90+ out almost 5 months of the year. So it needs to flow air.

Pink Gorilla Cycles, a sponsor of this site (ad to the right >>> )
always has a good selection on hand and they offer a 'BUELLXB' discount

just a suggestion
;)

I use A* SMX 2 right now but will be getting some new boots this coming season from Pink Gorilla

I have the Alpinestars and Sidi...

Both seem to be a little small if you purchase them with the intent of using them as a street boot.
The Alpinestar is great, but on mine the ankle joint makes a wierd popoing noise when I walk.
The Sidi is also great and do not make any joint noises.

Try on ALOT of different boots... Any "hot spots",or something rubs a little tight on the angle or the outside/ top of your foot will feel like hell after a few hours... Can't quite find the right words right now but I hope this helps... (Sorry still really hung over from wedding weekend)

Icon Field Armor Boot
Size 10.5 (Half Size Up is Necessary)
Mode: 100% Urban Assault Riding (No Track)
Notes:
Bought on Ebay for $50 (New w/o Box) Boots NEVER worn
Took 1 week to break in
Adjusted shift Lever up 1/2 inch
Perfect for casual riding
Looks Badaxx
Feels great (bulky but perfect)
I search a long time to find the perfect boot. This is it.
I did not want Track boots, i.e., SIDI (looks too pretentious for street riding) Except SIDI Adventure are purty but $500.

TCX is my brand, I have the s-zeros for driving on the street and am thinking about getting the R-S2 for track use.

^Yep. Heavy as hell but good ventilation in summer. Half size up from normal. Mine also took a week's worth of riding to break in. Thick toe and heels, I also had to adjust the shifter up. Guaranteed if you get in a wreck your feet will still be in your boots when the EMT's show up and follow the grease stain on the pavement to the rest of your body :)

I have a set of the Icon Field Armors size 12 I would probably let go of for the right price.... I have worn the about 7 or eight time and don't really use them anymore since I bought a set of set-up race boots.
Message me if anyone is interested.

I use the Dainese TRQ Race Out Air coming from a pair of A* S-MX5. In San Diego teh A* were just too hot and didn't let my feet breathe enough. The Dainese are MUCH easier to get in and out of and breathe quiet well without freezing my feet in the 20 degree temps we were having there for a while. The sizing is a bit off from normal Euro boots so be sure to check their sizing chart. I typically wear a size 9 shoe so I ordered the 42. The length and width are spot on, but the mid portion between the toe and the ankle is too high and allows for more foot float than I would like. The S-MX5's gave me a much more tactile sense of my foot position with respect to the pegs and shifter/brake.

All that said, I'd still take the TRQ over the S-MX5 for the far superior protection (lateral ankle support) they provide as well as the ease of use and breathability. I tried several pairs of Cortech Latigo Air which are much cheaper than the Dainese and provide a form of lateral ankle support. Believe what the Cortech reviews say, the build quality is HORRIFIC. I didn't even get the first pair on all the way before the zipper split. [confused] [down]

Those Heroic boots look nice. Wish I had come across those in my searching. Looks like they explicitly address one of my complaints about the Dainese by adding the instep strap. [up]
