BELL RS-1

I've been wearing a lil bit older Simpson Racing Voyager helmet and I like it, but it's a brick. It's heavy and hardly any venting. Now that I went with the red, silver, black color scheme on my xb9sx...with the holidays coming up, I'm looking at an early Christmas present to myself. Gotta have a helmet to match!:D I have narrowed my choices down to the two and I like them both. Both made from Carbon, Kevlar, Fiberglass. Both Snell 2010. Both Lightweight in the +/- 3.4lb range. Both in the $350-400 range. Anybody have one or the other?

had a couple of HJC's over the years, great helmets... now I'm rockin' a Sparx, by far the lightest, best fitting helmet I've ever owned, Snell, DOT, and ECE certs... wind noise is almost a non issue, very comfortable, has built in pockets for ear plugs and or ear phones[cool]

I recently boaght a bell vortech for my gf and for the money its maybe the nicest helmet ive ever had . Great quality ,nice finish ,comfortable couldnt be happier. The last couple hjc's ive owned were kinda shity.

I personally would go with the Bell RS-1, but it all comes down to which you prefer, and which fits you best.

The Bell RS-1 provides a lot of the same features as the pro level Bell Star, but geared toward a daily rider and track days. It's aerodynamics are for a 3/4 tuck, rather than a the full tuck in racing. Besides, I can get an auto-darkening shield for the Bell!

The photochromatic shield is 100% worth it I have it on my Bell Star and love it.

I highly recommend that you try them both on, even if you have to wait until you have a chance to visit a large motorcycle shop that stocks them. Or maybe get both and return one?

I think fit makes a huge difference in helmets ... everyone's head is shaped differently. It would probably quickly point you to the right choice in your decision.

I recently tried on $600+ helmet that I would have purchased because of excellent reviews ... it fit me terrible and I changed my mind on the spot. The same shop had another helmet at half the price and good specs that fit me perfectly.

I did try both of them on. Both fit good. Most likely goin with the BELL. HJC gets a lot of mixed reviews. Unless I find another comparable product at the price.

Ok, so I posted this awhile ago, but I finally bought a new helmet. I ended up not buying either of my original choices. I went with the Suomy Vandal Helmet. I couldn't resist the price. I just got it today and so far I love it. It weighs only 1250g which is about 2.75lbs. No more neck aches on long rides!!!

dude, got my Sparx for $69 new with free shipping, weighs about the same and meets DOT and Euro standards...

glad you finally picked one and happy with your choice:)

I went and tried the RS-1 again...and i just didn't like the way it sat on my head after trying on a bunch of different helmets. But anyways, I really like the look and feel of the Suomy. I suppose it's a louder helmet than others, but quieter than the old Simpson Racing Voyager i was rockin. Besides, I usually have ear buds in too.
