Should I buy the kit that adds 50ccc or go with a power commander....if so should I purchase a new exhaust as well? Any good exhausts out there? Was thinking a D&D but also like the hawk

when asking things of this nature OR most anything else regarding mods or repairs or recommendations it helps immensely if you post up the year/model/mileage of your machine. buell ecms and add-on map modifier modules don't play well together.

sorry it is a 2003 buell xb9r with 16XXX, ive had her for a little over a year. no ecm. I'm in Rochester so it's a bit tough to find someone who will work on these machines.

You can dump double the price you paid for the bike with modest gains at best. Cooter hit the nail on the head, free flow intake, exhaust and the proper tune... The 3rd is the charm. You can dump money on exhaust, do a open airbox ect. without a tune it won't maximize its potential, may even run worse...

I love my Drummer SS and if that's too loud there is always the standard Drummer. You also can get a preprogrammed ECM for most mufflers from idspd.com it's not quite as good as an actual tune but it works good enough for most. The open air box kit can be purchased here http://www.twinmotorcycles.nl/websh...Buell_XB_912_03-10_Open_Airbox_Conversion_Kit
or you can always make it yourself. There also may be other places to purchase but twin came to mind first.

I have a Drummer SS on my Firebolt. It is an absolutely stellar exhaust system, and Kevin is *the man when it comes to designing and fabricating a muffler. I've had the pleasure of visiting with him (search my threads for some pictures)...he is absolute class act with a huge heart. I can't recommend both him and his product enough.

Oh - should have added - the Drummer SS is really *not loud...it's just right with just the right note. For comparison, I have a D&D system on my Blast. It's loud and raucous where the Drummer sounds like it's both refined and powerful at the same time. Couldn't be happier with it.

I second everything said about Kev and Drummers Awesome pipe and genuine awesome chap! Total old school but with a modern twist! The isdpd ecm will be fine in 99% of cases give them a call too you will not be sorry! I have that combo and could not be happier!! :eagerness:

Before getting too carried away with your tune, source an xb12 throttle body to stick on top as well, should help make it healthier ;)

I have a D&D on my 12S and a Drummer SS on my 12R both sound good. The D&D is a lot louder than the Drummer. I like both, the D&D resonates in my helmet quite a bit, the Drummer doesn't resonate really at all. Performance wise I'm not really sure that one is better than the other as I haven't done any dyno runs but they are both solid exhaust systems. I will say the D&D front mount is a little flimsy, my brothers recently snapped off on his 12R.

So once I get all these things into place where is a good shop to take it to get tuned I live in Rochester, NY and I will travel to get her legit
