Will this HID kit work?

That will work on the lightning, not the firebolt. I've never heard of that company before. Many of us have purchased from DDMtuning.com and had great results.

Ive been doing a lot of custom car work, and every HID install ive done has been with those, I use to buy em off ebay but shipping was killing me. I just found that website about a 6 months ago. I have not had one set come back yet or any DOA. I have a lightning. Is there anyway to have both headlights stay on?

awesome! thanks for the link. I plan on doing this mod tomorrow. But arent the low beam and high beam bulbs different? I would like to just put two high beams in

I'm new on the HID lights. Tell me way I just can't go to auto zone by a pair of lights and plug em into my bike. What's a ballast and what is it for? What would happend if I didn't connect it?

i dont know alot of about them. i just know how to install them. first I bought the 50 dollar silverstars for my wifes car, and I liked them but then a friend came over and he had some HID's and the difference so 10 fold. its crazy how much brighter they are. and about the same price lol and consume less energy once they are warmed up

Ballasts are required to produce light when using High Intensity Discharge bulbs. They essentially house the mechanism by which the light is produced within the bulb.

Without a ballast, the bulb will not ignite and provide illumination. You cannot plug the average HID bulb into a light fixture and expect it to function properly. These HID kits employ a couple additional pieces that allow you to retrofit a stock system to allow for HID use.

Same bulb in each just the housings are different angles.

i used 6000K bulbs that i bought for 14 for the pair and they are more than bright enough. I wouldn't even consider paying 100 bucks for the new ballasts.

I'll chime in here with a bit of info for those considering an HID kit.
1. From wikipedia HID headlights are essentially a compact form of Metal Halide Bulb (the same technology you see lighting up stadiums around the world) they create light by way of an electrical "Arc" jumping from one electrode to another inside a xenon (inert) gas filled bulb. It takes a very high voltage (but low current) to accomplish this. That is the reason for needing the Ballast. It takes the 12-14V your bike's electrical system provides and ramps it up to something like 15,000 volts (AC) to create the "Arc".
2. IF you are going to consider using HID's for both low and high beams (this applies to everyone but Firebolt owners), you should perform the mod that TSELDON linked above to have both lights on at the same time. Because of the delay in time it takes for an HID bulb to come up to full brightness, you do NOT want to be running at 60MPH and toggle from low to high and have very little light in front of you while the bulb warms up. (Firebolts have both lights on when toggled to high beam so this doesn't apply)

3. There was a very comprehensive write up by someone a little while back. He went and added a delay relay to his lights like this. This is very advisable since it will save a hell of a lot of the overall life of the bulbs AND make starting your bikes a lot easier since it leaves the lights off while you're starting, giving you more amps for your starter.

Dave, Do you recall who wrote that thread a few months back?

LVsleeper did the timer. Kajer came up with a better mod more recently that allows you to turn on the headlights when you want to by tapping the flash button.
