Will xb12 headers fit on the xb9?

I couldn't say Yes or No, but if you look close at the 12 headers they don't flare out to a bigger size right at the cylinders so I'm guessing they won't. However, if you knew someone that can weld you could get an extra set of 9 pipes and cut the pipe back from the cylinder a few inches and flare the ends. Then cut the 12 headers back about 1/2 an inch shorter so the new flared pieces slipped into the 12 headers and then re-weld that together so it's the same distance from the bend to the cylinder.

Just a thought.

My thought is and it may be incorrect.

If the exhaust flange is the same one for both the 9 and 12, then why wouldn't it secure the 12 pipe to the 9 head?

The bolt pattern pattern and the I.D. for the flange would be the same.

To me, this statement make sense. If the 9 flares out, then this was done to allow the same exhaust flange, relieve, gasket and bolt pattern to work with both headers.

I think the 9 uses a different flange then the 12. So basically you would have to use the 9 flange and a short piece of the header pipe and use an exhaust flaring tool to open up the 9 header pipe so it could meet the diameter of the 12 header.

It's hard to explain without knowing how big the exhaust port is on the 9 and 12.

The 12 header will bolt directly on the 9 engine. The flanges and gaskets are the same. The only difference is the diameter of header tubing.

GUYS: wanna say what a pleasure it is to be part of such a CLEAN and positive forum.

Thanks for the input, ill be of finding a set of 12's to install and let you know how it goes...:)

Just remember that you will have to tune the ecm with the new header. It flows different than the 9 header and will throw off the fuel maps.
