I think I'm going to switch to a 10w40 for the colder months, but which one... I would like to stick with amsoil, both of these have an acceptable oil designation per manual (CF-4, CG-4, CH-4 and CI-4.)

or

The (amo) oil is about $3 cheaper a quart and since this will be engine oil only, I won't need to worry about the oil having friction modifiers etc, giving the clutch problems. In the description, there is mention of it being good for motorcycles and air cooled applications...

Has anyone used the Amsoil "AMO" 10w40???

Go with the MCF. Made spefically for motorcycles. That is what the "MCF" stands for.

That is what I am running in mine right now. I can't believe the difference on a how it starts up in the morning compared to the 20-50. Lot easier on the engine.
