installed header wrap and royal purple 50w bike runs cooler and notice less engine noise. running straight 50w here in florida where its always hot ok,but you folks in the cold weather may need a little less thick[cool]

Bike gets hot in NJ too, but more due to idling in traffic rather than hot weather. Can you give a little more detail (I'm a shameless novice)? I'll need to do a similar treatment soon. I already ordered the right scoop from AmericanSportBike.com, but I think I'll need to wrap the headers, too. Where did you get your wrap? How did you secure the ends? How much disassembly did you need to do to apply the wrap? Did you paint the wrap afterwards (I ride a lot in wet weather and will probably need to paint mine)? What's royal purple? What's 50w? Thanks!

BTW, My replacement stock muffler just came in (under warranty, so $0), to replace the original one which was already rusting badly after just 3 months, and I'll be sending the new one to jet-hot.com for ceramic coating before putting it on (I'm choosing Jet-Hot 2000 in grey). I'm doing it mainly for corrosion protection, but it'll also help blow more heat out instead of radiating it through the can.

bought the wrap a discount auto parts. I sercured the ends with radiator hose clamps. no disasemble at all. 50w oil is thick all the time. in the north 10w 30 or 10w 50 could be used. when you start engine cold in cold weather say 40 to 50 degrees a straight 50w could take longer to get to all oil passages thus possible engine damage could occure.10w 30 is more formulated to lube in hot or cold weather. using straight 50w suited for hot to extreamly hot. hope that helps some:)

I know the header wrap works well I just can't stand how bad it makes the bike look. Well at least I think it makes the bike look bad. I already told my mechanic that he is to use Royal Purple Cycle Max when I bring the bike in. Great reviews for sure for that oil.
