Would you have bought a Buell if?

To me being American made was part of the package. If that feature of the package didn't exist, it would not have influenced me all that much against my purchase. Happy I bought it and plan on keeping it in my collection for a long time and ride her as much as I can! :D

The air-cooled 45 degree v-twin was a huge reason I bought my Buell. I absolutely LOVE firing up my bike in the garage, and listening to that badass idle (race exhaust). The high-revving inline-4 blowdryer sound does nothing for me.

I do take pride in knowing my bike was put together right here in America. It definitely had an influence on my purchase.

As badass as the 1125R is, the fact that it doesn't have an "American" motor in it kind of irks me.

The HD-based motor in the XB was the big draw, IMO: A high-zoot Harley motor in a Mad-Max styled sportbike.

No influence on the purchase at all. As a practical matter, it's a negative: I have to buy new tools. The only thing in the house that has SAE fasteners is the lawn mower.

I often just go into the garage to have a quiet beer and admire my buell.I have had kids say"nice bike"
while passing by my mates on their harleys and cbr's and even know my wife says it's your toy (and your running costs) i know she has that little soft spot for my lightning. She knows i am gutted as i also wanted to save for an 1125r to partner my XB12Ss.Buell please come back to us in any format.

You have to admit that an American made sportbike is surely different. You see tons of jap bikes on the road everywhere you go, but rarely see a Buell. That is what first got my attention. It has a unique sound and look that I love. I was at a gas station once when an old guy in a motor home told me that it reminded him of a bulldog with a bad attitude. Crewdog

American made was a factor, but not a deal killer one way or the other. Also, the V-Twin is nostalgic to me. My last bike was a 95 Evo dresser that I rode across the country, and I have to say I really liked that bike for its intended purpose. I rode about 8k miles in a month (to Montana and back east) with no problemos to speak of. I actually hit a deer in Flagstaff and stayed up at 60+! Bent the crash bar completely back to my leg and killed the doe; lots of skids, but no crash.

HD has really blown it for me by killing Buell. Their whole proprietary marketing mania is so contrived as to be insulting. You can't even buy a bungee cord without HD written all over it. But, I just love that old time V-Twin and always will.

When I decided to start looking for a sport (fun) bike, the fact that I could actually have an American made, V-Twin in a super performing and absolutely unique package, made Buell the ONLY choice for me. There will NEVER be another product like this! I love my Buell.

American or not, I don't think I'll ever buy another HD at this point. When it comes time for another addition...I'm thinking maybe something Italian ;)

Strngely being british i was attracted to my XB12Firebolt
American sports and a Harley motor, we always hear so much stuff about poor handling US cars and never a fan of harley, (do harley make more money out of merhadise than the bikes - looking at the price of the leathers - maybe, that reminds me must order some harley unies for the wife ).
Anyway saw one in the local dealers and thought i might not get another chance to have a go on one so off i went. WOW and Yeaha! as you might say it is the most fun i have had on a bike since i got my honda 400 4 in 1977,
I love the fact that its a harley engine hidden inside such a innovative and beautiful bike.

Uk bikers like the buell's but were afraid to put their money down, its all about supersport stuff over here, fireblades etc great bikes they are but 140bhp is too much for our little twisty roads and idiot car drivers.

Mind you since Eric got shafted and Buell,s are being given away by dealers there's been a bit of a rush on them.

My piece of America to love, cherish and thrash on occasions

:):)
