I have and opportunity to do a trade plus $200 for a good shape Buell race muffler, my muffler is a jardine with a bristol quiet core wrap, new packing this year and painted black. Good deal or no? Iv been looking/wanting a Buell race can for a long time now.

Not to persuade you, new Bueller here, but everyone Ive talked to and read said the Hawk is superior to the Buell race muffler and you only spend the 200. Could sell your jardine and be better off. Just my two cents

Iv been around the boards for 4 years or so, just never post. I have had my eye on the hawk too. Just like the look of the Buell race can.

buell race muffler out performs the hawk in hp and torque.

you can find the dyno sheets for the race pipe here

and for the hawk here

Different dynos, different conditions. I doubt one really outperforms the other by a noticeable margine. It depends mostly on the conditions and the tune.

I haven't seen anyone say the Hawk is superior to the race exhaust. To my knowledge, the only thing people say is that the Hawk pipe is a great value for what it offers.

Ya I'm not a tech so all the dyno stuff was greek to me. Ive been reading up on them on this forum and others, and everything I've read said hawk was better. Maybe it was due to price since most people said the Buell pro was 1k or more. But if the Pro is better and all you have to pay is 200, I'd do it.

The welds seem better on the Race than on the hawk and you can jack it on the jack points; and you don't have to repack it like the Jardine. Sounds like more (structural integrity) for less maintenance provided the race mufflers intact. Just my opinion of course.

Those Hawk dyno numbers look like those are for a 9 not a 12. And if that's correct the Hawk is slightly better on a 9. Again that's discretionary since its a different bike, different dyno and different people running the test. I'd be willing to be the 12 numbers between the 2 are pretty close too.

The big difference I would say is the race ecm is likely to be a very good match as a plug and play, whereas you should re map manually with adding the hawk.

In the end it's your bike and if that's what you want and have one available to you, do it. They aren't getting any easier to get lol.

The jack points are still valid on the Hawk.

Checked it out tonight and it's a deal, pipe was in good shape just needs to be cleaned up. Thanks for all the imput guys!

man i got a really good deal then a while back, i traded my spare stock pipe, and stock ECM plus $70 for a race pipe plus a race ECM.....

now i have a spare race pipe and race ECM back home sitting, waiting to hit ebay one day! :)

it'd go higher on ebay.....i'm 19 and poor lol, i need the money....

i'll post up here w/e i do list it as a heads up however

Well the deal is done and I took the time to clean the pipe up a bit and get a few little rides in. And wow I like everything about it. Wish I never had the jardine. I want to get it out and do some data logging and get it dialed in but it feels good with just the 2006 race map. I'll throw up some pics later I can't figure out how to from my iPhone.

Couple Quick Iphone pics!
