you did notice it says bill of sale only no title right?

Looks to me like it needs a new frame anyways, the frame carries the title IIRC and you can buy a frame with a title pretty easily.

I dont understand... So i buy a frame and I get a title?
most of the time you get a title with a new frame. the only reason i brought it up was because in PA you cant register a bike without a title.

essentially, yes. In Oklahoma it's a title 42. Basically, you do a lean on the vehicle, the state will then, after 30 days issue you a title. In Oklahoma, you have to use a title company, or a salvage yard to do a title 42. Your state may be different. Also, in Oklahoma, your engine serial number is not checked, therefore doesn't have to match the frame serial number.

all three of my buells came from copart auto auction all three ran and were easily repaired and riding within a few days, looks pretty much like al the buells ive seen on auction. there usually are other fees attached to it so dont go over 1500.00 because 1500 ends up 1800 0r so. good luck

Check the bike out before you sink a good bit of money. IMO you don't want a bike you have to put a lot of money into. I see it this way 1. You buy the bike for 1100. 2. Put another 1,000 into just to repair it. 3. Complete any necessary maintenance such as fluids and tires. $400 if you do it yourself. So now your 2500 into. Not sure but I think I would just find a bike that has not been wrecked and make it mine. Even if it has higher miles to me a non wrecked bike is always better than a wrecked. There could be things broken you
May not see now, but see them later after you have invested your money and half the riding season trying to make a wrecked bike ready to ride. Not trying to scare you away just want you to be smart with your hard earned money...Im done.:D

This bike belonged to a guy I work with, it was crashed last fall. I tried to buy it before the insurance totalled it out. Can't speak to as of now but I'm pretty sure the engine was still running good and most of the damage was cosmetic/bolt on parts with the exception of the frame. Hope this helps with your decision.

Awesome man. I just had it inspected by a mechanic that was local to the yard and he said it is in really good condition. There is an oil leak. He said it is coming from the faring but didn't look too bad. He said it started right up. He did not have much experience with buells but said he noticed a lot of gear noise, didnt know if that was just how they sounded or what.

Most everything else was cosmetic he said. So just frame, oil leak and some dents. What do you guys think?

Overall I think it sounds like a pretty good project bike if I could get it under $1,000

Having input from someone who knows the bike is golden. I'd probably pick it up for $1,000 or maybe even $1,500 if you could. Anticipate putting $1,000 into it though, and you should be safe.

These engines are gear driven cams so there is a lot of gear noise. Also, they are air cooled and don't have water jackets that absorb sound, so they sound more "mechanical" than many other bikes. The gear noise is probably normal.

There could be a few places it's leaking from there.

First of all, was the bike down on this side? It looked from the other pics it was dropped on the other side, but in this pic it looks to me like the foot shifter is bent. If so, the shift shaft that goes into the engine (or whatever it's called) could be bent, damaged, leaking, etc.

Anyway, that oil leak could be oil leaking from the primary cover case (that large black case that mates to the silver engine). I believe there's just a gasket between the two pieces. Also it could be trans mission oil leaking from the transmission cover/plate (look just above the rubber part of the foot shifter, there is a small plate with three screws in it, that's where the transmission fluid goes, there's a gasket there). Only other possibility I could see is there are oil lines on top of the muffler, below the engine, that run from front of engine to the swingarm, they could be leaking onto the muffler then running down the side of the muffler and dripping. I doubt this last one though, I don't think there are any connections in the lines in that area, there'd have to be a rip in the line to cause a leak.

If it's simply a leaking gasket from one of the covers I wouldn't worry about it(it is a HD engine, they all leak eventually lol).

If that shifter is in fact bent, I'd want to examine the shift shaft thing that goes into the bike. If that's damaged it could be more serious. I don't know much about that though, still might be an easy fix, I'm just not sure. Let someone else chime in about that. It may not even be bent, might just be an illusion I'm seeing in the pic...
