As the title says I am looking for a buell XB series bike. Firebolt or lightning, 9 or 12. Higher mileage is fine as long as it was well maintained. I have $3,000 cash and still saving. I live in northern NM, so anywhere in NM/CO is acceptable. And for the right price possibly TX/AZ as well, depending on the distance.

PM me, post it this thread, email me, etc. Thanks.

First off welcome.

Search and Save, if you are willing to travel you will get your best deal for sure. I have bought 3 Buells, the closest to me was about 12hrs of drive time. My first bike took me about 20hrs worth of driving and my last was closer to 30hrs of driving.

Unless your real lucky you will need to drive to get a good deal. Keep an eye out and be flexible.

Here is my one shot when I had all three. You can see the one was being used as a mock up bike.

Thanks for the tip! Sorry i have not made an intro thread yet, i figured after i get my buell would be an apropriate time for that.

Also, what do you think is a "good" deal for an XB now days. I might have found a xb12 with clean title and under 10k miles for 3k. That seems good to me, but what is a "steal" price for a 9 and a 12?

My plan is just to buy the best/cleanest/lowest mileage bike I can afford. I am well prepared to drive 6-7 hours away to pick up a clean one for a good deal. I am a craigslist.org whore, and intend to find a great deal that way. I actually use crazedlist.org to search multiple cities at the same time ;)

Anyways, thanks for the warm welcome. Any more buyers tips etc are more than welcome in this thread.

Thanks!

-Nate.

Anything under 3k is a steal, but with that said a beat down bike might not be worth the price to part it out.

9 or 12 3k-3.5k is a great price if it is in good condition.

I picked up a 2003 for under 3 grand with less than 3 grand miles and it was only a 30 min drive from my house!

I wish I could buy a clean title XB bike in Ukraine for 3'000 -3'500 bucks. The only Buell with the clean title which is available in Ukrainian market now is 2006 Firebolt XB 12 R (Black-Orange) with low miles but for 10'000 US Dollars. We have for about 5 more units on the market for 3'000-3'500 but they are stolen and have no documents. Thus the only way to ride it is to run from the police every time you see'em.

Good luck with the purchase FireinXB!

Found a bike. Got a 2004 xb12s with 17,000 on it for 1,000. However it has a bad engine knock so I will be swapping a motor into it over this winter, then building the one that comes out of it for a spare.

Ill post a new thread sometime with pics.

Now this is what I call a good price :D

Good news you've got the bike :)

Show us please the pics of what you've got now.
My colleagues usually say "good knock is always coming outside". Just a joke.

How hard the engine knock is? Perhaps this is just Half-Bearings? However then the Crankshaft could be also damaged. Check the oil for debris and Spark plug for layer of aluminium on it.

If you are much of a mechanic try to disassemble the Engine to see what needs to be replaced. You'll have to do it anyway sooner or later.
You'd better do it sooner. May be it will be enough to replace not too many parts. So there will be no need to buy a new engine. Though a spare engine idea sounds not so bad ;).

Best of luck with your repair and keep us posted.

There are a couple XB's up here in SD. Straight shot up from CO. There is an 07' XB12R, Red, Power Commander and performance exhaust for $3200. Its in the Local paper, but not online anywhere that I've seen. Even the guy across the street from me has a 12R for sale, 04' I think. Black and Amber. Pretty nice except its been sitting outside since he put it of for sale. Not sure on the price though.
