WTB engine temp sensor and ECM

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

i have an ecm just sitting in my garage. i got it with a muffler i bought on craigslist. its stock but im not sure if its off a 9 or a 12. if your interested let me know

Yes I'm interested. I need it for a test part really. I have a engine temp problem and I don't know if its my sensor, or ecm so I'm gonna try em both. My engine temp says 300deg f when the motor is cold!

Got any numbers on it?

yeah there are 2 stickers on it. n0306.02a8 03028 and bx9us20cb060 also on one of the connectors it has 101223 stamped on it. Thats crazy about the engine temp! hopefuly this will help

ok now from what im being told, i should be able to use any ecm for a 12 from 04-07. it can even be from a xb12r. Thats what one person says.

only problem would be if its for a 9.

anyone care to verify this?

How much would you want for it if it will work on my bike?

This is correct. Any 07 or earlier ECM for a Lightning or a Firebolt should work just fine. Even an XB9 ECM, if taken to a dealer to be reflashed to XB12, should be fine.

Keeping your Stock ECM with the bike - Load your stock EEPROM (after saving for safety) in one ECMSpy window - Open the Race EEPROM in another seperate ECMSpy window - Change Map values and other settings on your Stock EEPROM manually so it matches the Race EEPROM, - Rename, Save, & Burn back to bike.

Your just using the opened Race EEPROM for a reference to make the changes to your Stock EEPROM. The ECM won't know the difference this way since it keeps it's original Firmware.

The ECM is just a platform, as long as the same firmware is used when burning back (regardless of modifications made to it), you should be golden.

Hopefully Octo or Gator will confirm/correct the steps above if need be.

Much thanks for all the help fellas [up]

So how about that ECM BuellCrazy! How much do ya want for it if i can get it to work on me bike like they say?

Ok I don't need an ecm anymore. I'm too impatient so I just got the 07 ecm from buellsterparts. Thanks again for all the help fellas.
