Someone knocked over my 03 Buell lightning the other night when it was parked on the street and busted up the peg/lever/handlebar on the right side. I've got pegs and levers on order but can't find the handlebar anywhere or a replacement with the specs i'd like. I liked the stock fit pretty well so if anyone has gotten theirs off for an aftermarket set and wants to sell me a stock bar let me know. I'm in San Diego but I'll pay for shipping. Just let me know! Thanks!

Matt

I have to look to make sure if they are at this house, but I have a stock set.

Thanks! Just let me know if you've got them. I'm probably going to order something within a few days otherwise so i can get back to riding.

Not trying to sway you in another direction but you may want to consider the Renthal Streetfighters or Ultralows? They're only around $70 and have been one of my favorite mods to date. Slightly lower and more "elbows out" that stock. Much more comfortable IMHO.

About to install my ultra lows today. Still trying to decide on drilling a guide hole or shaving them off?!? What did you do Dro?

Sorry for thread jack!

Shaved! :) (probably a joke in there somewhere :p ) I think I had to wrap the bars to get them to tighten nicely but they've been fine since. This allows for more adjustment too. IMO, the holes are mainly for assembly at the factory.

Thanks for the input. I was hoping to just get the bike up and running. I kind of like the more upright riding position with higher bars just because 90% of my riding is straight highway commuting to work and after having my R6 for so long it's nice not to be leaned over so far the entire time. I'll give them a look though and see what i could get on them somewhere, if you know a site in particular with a good deal or good rep let me know.

Thanks again.

This thread Might help to give you a better idea. They also probably make other bends that are taller. Have a look at the Renthal site. I can tell you in no way do these compare to any clip-ons. They're marginally lower than stock. Check out the comparison pics I have at the bottom of page 2 of the thread I linked.

Get a hold of Wes at Pink Gorilla (link to right>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>). He may not have them posted on his site but I know he can get them and give you a good deal on them.

Good luck!

also i was hoping to keep the same width since i usually am splitting lanes in stopped traffic and there are some tight squeezes, are there any that are comparable or recommended that aren't any wider than the stock 28" ones? thanks.

awesome thanks! I had actually just opened that thread in another window and was looking at the wider bars, i think i prefer a more narrow stance as i'm not that big and like i just said i want to keep it all skinny.

No problem! Looks like the Road Highs are the narrowest they offer (actually a tad narrower than the 28" figure you stated). Here's a link. If you go that route, confirm that the "D" dimension will work on the Buells as they are narrower than the Streetfighters that I have.

Lol! Not just one!

That's got to be a rush! You should get some wide sweeping handle bars just to make it a little more interesting! :D good luck with your search!

damn you're super helpful man thanks! I just got a PM from someone offering me their stock bars and levers to replace my busted ones so i'll probably take them up on that as long as shipping is reasonable but after i get her repaired i'm sure i'll be looking to save some back up and upgrade her. first thing is a new parking spot so this doesnt happen again....

i don't split lanes too often doing more than 10-15mph so it's not too bad but occasionally the tight squeeze or person drifting in their lane gets the heart pumping. it does save me 10-15 minutes each way on my commute though :D

Any time! If you "plan" for there to be a "next time" you may want to check out our axle and case sliders if you don't already have them or similar products. ;)

Good luck man! [up]

well i put on the new bars but the levers i got sent don't fit, the bar is black and so are the levers so they must be for a different year of my ride. the real issue is now the throttle sticks and won't snap back to idle position. i'm assuming this is due to the cables being too stretched or too loose, anyone have any experience with this issue when changing thier bars? also, anyone know what model/year my levers and bar may have come off? the bar is black and has a bross brace like a dirt bike on it. Thanks!
