I'm looking for an XB12 muffler. I want to get one modded by Randy at Hawk Performance but want to keep my original stock one as well.

Phazernut: I just did the same thing! You might want to consider a XB9 muffler as well? I know that Randy doesn't utilize the valve in the XB12 muffler and otherwise, there's no difference (after it's modded) other than a weight savings. There's an XB9 muffler on this forum right now for $65 + shipping.

Good luck! I get my Hawk Pipe Tuesday!! :D

So the 9 and 12 muffler are the same except for the valve ?? Just want to be sure it mounts up the same with the chin fairing and all

Yes (after they're gutted anyway)...everything I ever read said so, as well as Randy telling me so. You might want to ask him to be certain, but I'm about 99% confident.

FYI...I've seen the stock mufflers go for as low as $60 shipped (what I paid for mine) up to $130 or so.

I want to here more of the sound of the muffler. I had a Jardine on mine and hated it. I want a nice deep sound without blowing my eardrums

Randy also has a ringtone of his mufflers (at idle and revving). If your cell can get ringtones via text, he can send them to you.

I've got one with the servo. It's off an 07XB12R with 3000miles on it. $100 plus shipping ?

Is the 12R muffler the same as the XB? Would you do 100.00 shipped to Randy at Hawk Performance?

You should be getting the XB9 pipe IMO. They are about 8 lbs lighter. After gutting it, the valve is just pointless extra weight, something like 6 lbs more. Then the 12 pipe is double layered adding a few more lbs.
