Never had a problem with it,your not actually welding on the head,your hitting the stud,2-3 seconds is usually all it takes, if it just makes a little build up than wait 30 seconds and hit it again. The heat loosens the stud the nut is something to grab on to. And you can turn down the heat if your concerned at first.
 
Yep that works really well, seems though here as of lately the repairs here in the shop they are broke off just below the area needed. I wish I could claim the Trick Prostreet suggested! My Uncle Ernest Taught me that trick some Moons ago when I was younger (not in any newer books )to my knowledge, but you can in the older Chiltions and bike books find the Jewel Tips that really help out here & there, the book selection he has built up over the years bikes & Tractors goes back to the 50s. I have been up dating the shop Library for the future, but trade secrets are meant to be shared. Great tip Pro ST.,!*Jimi:D
