This is it after it broke again, and i took it off to show the internals and hardware used.

So thats basically what i got, I want to know how to fix this so that it wont happen again. I want to say the hardware is wrong? I have a feeling it needs a rubber grommet in there, what i took out was metal.
I just ordered a set of rear isolator grommets off ebay in hopes that it will fit in the front mount.

You should get a front hanger for a 2000 and up X1.If I have the right kit this is what you want.
Exhaust Header Mount Retrofit Kit #S1001-01A1

Yes thats the hanger.I'm not sure about your rear hanger though.See if you can find someone with a manual.Maybe some here could help out.

I was going to recommend the same... The updated or "y" front hanger. The rear typically has 2 attaching points but I think most after market cans utilize only one.

Thanks for the insight! Will the bracket come with necessary mounting hardware?
And would you suggest just re-welding the piece that broke? Or finding some nice scrap and making a new piece? I would imagine the steel would loose its temper after being heated like that?
Is there anything i should look for that may have been causing this? And after it broke I had to ride it around for awhile, could it have messed anything else up?

Thanks again for the awesome community!

Personally I would look into another after market slip on. D&d and Vance & Hines seem to get the best praise. The y hanger will come with the bushings pressed into it and I beleive that is all. You could ask Al at American sport bike to be sure.

If money is tight... Get the new hanger and try welding once more.

I just noticed an unused mounting ear? What muffler is that? It appears if both ears were used there would be less stress on the one that cracked.

I have had to ride it a few time's like this.. so will it break the studs off in the motor being ridden while the exhaust is "loose"?
Heck if its even possible those studs are getting weak should I buy replacements?
And while i'm asking if it dose happen to break off how hard is it to extract the broke bolts?

Ok so i just bought the updated "y" bracket.. And new studs, just in case i weakened them riding with the loose exhaust.

So now my question is, should i really weld the mount back on to the exhaust, or should i be looking into alternative ways of mounting my D&D to the new bracket?
Any ideas?
I know i saw some pictures on bad web of a fabricated mount. But surely there is multiple ways to fix this. I guess if i come up with my own solution i will post it, but i would love to see some options!

Thanks again!
