XB - ''M'' button on speedometer no longer works

Hi all.
It's simple, the ''M'' button on my speedo no longer works. It makes a clicking sound but does not switch between modes.
The clock still appears and the reserve fuel also appears. But once i fill up, i am stuck with F 0.0 ... so i got no clue how far i have gone.
I opened it, looked for corrosion, nothing.
Everything else still works fine, lights and speed gage...

Any ideas, before i go and buy a new speedo?[confused]

sounds like you need a cluster

It is a surface mounted, pushbutton, momentary contact switch, if you want to dig that deep

hmmm new cluster, i bet they don't sell the cluster seperatly.

Do you guys know how to test a cluster?

I would hate to change the whole thing if all i need is a new button.

From your post: that's what the fuel indicator is supposed to do.

Use the trip meter to keep track of how many miles.

Can you reset the trip meter?

Sounds like you can switch between modes (clock and fuel).

@ lamarchangel, i cannot access any fonction. The m button does not allow me to make any changes. No matter how long or how hard i press the damn button. The only time i saw a change was when i unplugged the battery, the clock showed up and once a hit the reserve, the F showed up.

I'll try replacing the button first. I do have a soldering kit It seems worth the try since a button will only set me back a few bucks.

allright, went to the shop and got a few of buttons, at 50 cents a piece, i can afford to miss a few times .
I'll let you know how it turns out.. fingers crossed
