I've only posted a few times before, and what I've got now is a bit of a mouthful, so please bear with me. If you read to the end, kudos. I'd skim to the issue I'm having if you don't want the whole dang story.

6/2/11 Riding on my way to a remote hospital to do some work and I'm just about there in a 55mph zone when this 19 yr old girl pulls directly out in front of me. Hospital, surgeries, etc. Anyhow, fast forward a bit. That winter, since I decided to buy the carcass back from the insurance company, I decide I'm not going to let this get me down and I started rebuilding her. All winter long, I spend $$$ up the ass to get this bike road worthy again. I had the frame repaired and powder coated. New tires, wheels powder coated. Painted her myself glossy black (I'm a computer nerd by trade, so this was tough for me). All in all, I spent north of 50 hours rebuilding this bi*ch. Last August, I put the finishing touches on her and left for my annual road trip across the pond (from Michigan) to Wisconsin and up through northern WI into the U.P. of MI and back home. Unfortunately, I got to Appleton WI and broke down. The bike kept stalling, engine light, etc. Luckily, one of the guys I was riding with brought his Mac and an ECM Spy cable (before haters hate, he's got boot camp with a Win7 partition). The Report was devastating - Engine Temp Sensor (ETS). Devastating because the closest one was 3 hours away in downtown chi-town. A straggler was just happening to be coming through Chicago during all of this and stopped to pick it up (what a friggin saint). So, he got into Appleton, we swapped the ETS (1/2 inch deep well socket dremelled to accordance for those who know). I reset the TPS, tuned the idle to 5.5ish and we hit the road the next day. Next day, we get just outside of Appleton when the CEL starts flashing at me whenever I get below 2k RPM. ECMSpy displays Error Code 13, Sensor Always running lean. From there, I shut her down, begged, borrowed, and stole my way back home over the course of a few days, with bike in hand. I'll tell you, some folks are just the most outgoing and generous folks to ever walk the Earth, I'm still paying this forward. I would also like to point out that had some of those rude m-effers actually stopped instead of yelling profanities to "Buy American" I wouldn't be so jaded to striking up conversations with complete strangers now. That's a whole other story though. I get it home, I replace the O2 sensor, test run, CEL, Error code 13. By now, it's like October (I was stuck in a rolling 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift job with the hospital in September) and it's starting to get too cold to ride. No worries, I have all winter to work on it, right? Wrong, we have a new little girl born on 10/19/12. I didn't get to the garage 1 time this past winter. She's perfect, so I'm ok with not getting in the garage. Ok, now to the *actual* issue. Today, after months of dinking with grounding and checking on crap without taking a single test run, I go out tonight and guess what, Error code mother-effing-13.

Here are the changes:

1. Powder coat frame
2. Powder coat wheels (not relevant, but for documentation sake, it's here)
3. New ETS (Engine Temp Sensor)
4. New O2 Sensor
5. LED conversion for blinkers
6. New coil
7. Relocated license plate
8. ****New Ground from battery ground terminal to engine ground under filter*****
9. New tires (again, not relevant but these diablo rosso's are effing awesome)
10. Complete paint job
11. Had exhaust fixed (welding shop cut out the dent and replace with stainless steel piece)
12. Wrapped exhaust
13. D&D Exhaust (was there when I bought the bike, not really a replacement, now I'm just throwing anything out there)
14. New bars,
15. New levers
16. Quite a few other cosmetic things that you probably don't give a rats-a** about.

So, here's where we are. Still throwing the code and I am completely stumped. Not to mention, really, REALLY frustrated at this point. Any relevant advice is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

The fuel pump sounds the same as always and the injectors were untouched (I was just reading denmarks inector issues and will check if needed)

Thank you!!!!

intake seals are.... sorry. Where?
between the throttle body and heads.

ok, I got down and looked all up in there. Looks untouched. I didn't really do anything to that part of the engine. Is there a fairly easy way to check like spraying some starting fluid or something up in there?

way to check like spraying some starting fluid or something up in there?
carb cleaner or a propane torch with a hose on it.the propane doesnt make a mess.
listen for a change in the idle

dtc 13 is not sensor always lean, it is sensor always lean or sensor always rich or sensor inactive. impossible to say which from blink code only.

Not sure if this is normal for the EC13, but this is only happening once the bike gets warm and I'm out riding - usually about 5 miles in the CEL will flash and then the bike runs like crap. Once it cools down, it's back to running normal again. While this is going on, the idle hangs at or around 2k.

"ok, propane torch. No change in idle. "
-did you let your Buell warm up before testing? Let it get crazy and than test it with propane once the TB is expanded,
-also do visual check on your spark plugs - it will tell you if you are really running lean - check both plugs

TPS reset, a few times. Swapped plugs in Appleton last year, forgot about that. Can check them although there is only going to be like 25 miles on them.

sounds really close to what my '06 Ss is doing!! if anyone has ever had this problem and fixed it i would sure like some info!! thanks

old plugs looked fine. Rear cylinder, if I remember correctly, looked like it was running lean. I hadn't replaced the O2 sensor at that point yet. It's been replaced now though.

I didn't get a chance to get into the garage last night, I will tonight after work though. I will post my results when I get the plugs pulled. In response to Jasenko, the bike wasn't completely warmed up. I was using the propane torch idea after it had cooled down for an hour or so. You're saying I should wait for the bike to heat up really hot then try again?

I would warm it up to the point where it starts acting up and than test intake seals with wd40. This will rule out seals if theres no change in engine operation. My logic is when the bike is cool it runs fine, however when it gets hot is starts taking extra air from the bad seal, so if you test it once is warm you will be SURE about the seals.

retrieve trouble codes. three different errors buried in one trouble code.
