I just bought a 2008 25th ann Buell XB12r. it has 5k miles on it. The guy said that it hadnt been ridden in a while. So i got on it for the test drive and it ran fine. Took it home rode it the next day and it keep dying in first gear and on acceleration in first gear make a popping noise and loose power and regain it. Once i get past first gear it doesnt do it anymore. I figured it had bad gas. I replaced the gas and it still does it. Could somebody tell me what I need to do?[confused]

Have you checked the spark plugs? Could have a cracked electrode or ceramic housing.

This was happening to my bike, to I figured out that if you ride it at higher revving speeds for a little it goes away? its weird, I'm thinking that it is just spark plug wires that i need but i am not entirely sure yet.

Changed the spark plugs and it still pops and misses. Also idles like garbage and sometimes even dies on idle. I have reset the TPS many times and it still is doing this. What should I do?

Hey there, the 2008 through 2010 Buell bikes have a Throttle and Key Turn TPS method. If that does not work, then possibly IF the Bike is Bone Stock start with the upper Exhaust Valve (under) the air box. which is cable fed to the Muffler valve inside the muffler down below. If that is not working then loss of power and the popping and stalling will result. If the Cable is too Loose or to Tight will cause that as well. This is a Touchy Area Cause it may be something else but take your time &. GO check the( Small Things First),checking the Gap in those Plugs(careful w/ the tips for the /DCPR9EIX-NGK spark plugs work well in Buells. When you get the chance,, Look up on the mods section here on the Forum. Read Up so you can isolate hopefully something easy. Post up if needed. Good Luck.Jimi

Oh and one more thing, SeaFoam (AT Walmart,) in the Tank may help to keep injectors from clogging. Bike Sat for a bit so just thought I would throw that out there. Please DONOT use the whole bottle in one fillup. TO preminum fuel. Follow directions on the back. There are several areas to cover that can cause that problem. Such AS Intake Gaskets, can also cause that problem but wait on that! Hopefully you are doing the tps reset correctly Check around that TPS Sensor make sure the part is not loose or cables or the Vacuum plug is not missing. Try to do a TPS reset but make sure not to twist the Throttle at all when trying to start the bikes engine after the Reset. Sometimes you will have to bump the Starter Button for a Second let off then Start the Bike. If it stalls fine do not touch the Throttle right after it starts just restart it till idles all by itself. Most likely it is something small, and that can be difficult but can be solveable Good Luck Jimi

I gapped the plugs to spec. I have a new pipe on the way so when i tear that apart i will take a look at that. Thank you very much
