This is what I have. They seem to be some what the same as those amazon deals. Just different switches.
If anyone decides to go with the trackside grip heater, remember to reinforce the wiring around the resistor. It gets brittle and winds up breaking. Took mine about 8months before it had a failure. When that does happen all you have is a high setting.

Im extremely happy with them (only my first long ride with em) on the 1125 power is available up front. and just enough room for the round rocker switch to look inconspicuous or OEM

The ones I got are made by symtec and dont use a resistor like shown in the track-side set. They use a high and low strip in the heating element. The symtec appears to be pretty high quality, 3M backing adhesive all of the wiring is in heat shrink tubing. And the plug in connectors at the switch are a locking type so they wont fall out. I soldered all of the connections as I refuse to use those "scotch lock" taps.

how good do heated grips work, as compared to heated gloves? Can you ride in the 20's F
They work awesome. Heated grips have become the first mod I make to any new bike I bring home. They extend my riding season to damn-near year round, in temperatures lower than the 20s F (down to -10C or ~15F).

it's chinese garbage. that's why that happened
Yea, it's critical to stay away from cheap sets if you want your heated grips to work reliably. I've been using Oxford grips on all my bikes for over 5 years now & I've yet to have a failure. Back then they were still made in the UK; now they come from China but the quality still seems to be among the best.

As others mention above, it's best to tap into a switched power source to eliminate the risk of a dead battery. Having said that, the Oxford control module monitors voltage & automatically turns the grips off if it detects a low battery.

I recommend heated grips very strongly to anyone in a moderate or cool climate!
