Trying to get to the rear spark plug on my 08 XB12r through a K&N filter set up. Can't seem to remove the base of the filter/airbox cover after taking the screws out because the velocity stack, 2 hoses, and a sensor(?) are sticking up through the base and seem to be holding it tightly in place. I don't have a clue how to get the base off at this point without destroying something. Anybody have any tips? Thanks.

The stack should push through, the sensor has a connector that should come off. I don't recall how the hoses interact as I have the reroute done, but I'd imagine it's pretty straight fwd...Check out the DIY video link at the top right of this page.

Good luck!

Push the velocity stack flange down and pull the plastic base up, disconnect the iat sensor and pull the breather hoses out of the base.

^^^^[up] what jesse said. might i add that the 4 large torx screws holding the plastic base to the frame are very tight from the factory. after the base has been removed and you're looking at the rubber velocity stack and large spring clamp that holds the stack to the throttle body.....be absolutely certain the stack is mounted properly and securely to the throttle body prior to replacing the plastic base or all sorts of problems will result. the insided of the stack has large rubber lip that engages groove in the throttle body. both must be mated properly. a bit of silicone spray lube or even kroil penetrant spray on the top of the stack and 2 breather tube tips greatly eases re-assembly as well.
