So I read about the Reg/Rec problem and need to know what the likelihood of the stator going bad is. From what I've read, this issue on the 04 XBs tends to be the Reg/Rec. I'm new here just bought the bike 2 months ago with 5500 on it now has 7900 (he had it from 06-14 and put very little miles on it, I ride). I could use a hand finding a replacement used first or new second Reg/Rec. Thanks guys and good to be here. Anyone with parts can feel free to text me at 412-980-7940 my name is Nick.

Welcome to the forum.
First of all have you tested your battery, how old is it etc.
There are several threads on how to test the regulator and a plug to test on here. If i run across it ill post it up here.

As for replacements ricks motorsports is a good choice or I think americansportbikes carries OEM style.

There is a link to the service manuals at the top of this page it has all the testing procedures in it. That'd be a good place to start.

Check the #77 connector behind the front pulley cover. Disassemble/inspect-repair-clean/pack it with dielectric grease and reassemble. Lots of info on here about that. Check the BASICS first. (Battery connections, the mentioned connector, and of course, the battery itself). Just because a battery isn't that old does NOT mean it's not suspect. Everyone want to jump on the VR/Stator thing right away. Many wind up not needing them.

Tough to diagnose without more detail. Does the motor crank but just not start? Do you have no power at all?

Generally, I'd start looking at these common trouble spots in this order:
-Fuses (as Kona suggests)
-Loose connections (grounds, terminals & 77)
-Battery
-VR
-Stator

I'd test the VR & Stator per the procedures outlined in the manual to nail the problem down before laying out cash randomly replacing parts.
