XB12R vs GSXR 600

screamineagle, my bike is stock except for tires. That was also my first run ever at the strip on the bike, so I wasn't quite sure where to launch and kinda putted off the line.

A liquid cooled 4 valve 600 will murder a air cooled pushrod 2 valve twin. Anybody can go fast in a straight line and few can turn a bike well. Going around corners well and fast side to side transitions is more about the rider skill than the bike he is riding. When a old (older than me) dude goes around me on the outside throwing sparks on a old worn out Suzuki GS500 heading up Mt. Palomar I know when I have been schooled. Best thing you can spend money on is a track day.

Kind of late to this party but setup and rider make a big difference even in the twisty's. My XB9R was stored for a number of years and when I started riding it again I set everything back to factory to have a new starting point for reference. The handling in the corners is not good at all at this point. Bike wants to stand up when I have friends on HD cruisers right on my ass through the entire curve. Lets not even mention my friends 2001 FZ1 that rips the corners like no ones business. Just changed everything about an hour ago and am going to see how she handles now. But to the point of whats faster, some older 600 in lines I can kill but nothing in the past 10 years I am sure. Lets not talk anything bigger either.
