Question for all you XB12S riders... After being an XB12S rider, if you were to go get a new 2009 would you go XB12Ss or Xb12Scg. Wondering this being 5'10".

I agree nomore. Im 5'10" and i have an Scg and I love it. It fits me real nice and you can't beat the look.

I have to disagree, I love my Ss and would only consider getting an 1125(C)R... I am 6'5" and most other Buell models feel small

It depends if your going to do any touring or two up riding. If not go with the scg. I bought a Ss so I can load some luggage and the wife for a weekend trip. Me and the wife sat on the S and the Ss at the dealer and the Ss was much more roomier and comfortable with both of us on.

6'3" here and I would for sure go with SS. I like the longer tail (have a girl who likes to ride).

You're 5'10" - I'm 5'11" - Just off the top of my head, I'd go for the SCG. I like Gator's point though, if you plan on long rides with 2, I'd at least test ride the SS.

Hey thanx all, i appreciate the input. Looks like im going for the Scg. I don't plan on doing any overly long trips on the bike and as for my gf...she'll get a ride here and there but the bike's main purpose will be...get away vehicle. :D

Boys will be boys.

If you are planning on riding alone, go with the scg.. if not, go with the Ss. From personnal experience, your passenger will appreciate the extra inches they have to sit on. ;)
But then again... i don't know anyone who likes to ride with a backseat... so get an scg and a tailbag :p

im 5'6 and have an 09 scg and gotta say its the most comfortable bike sizewise ive owned:D

""I just can't believe they don't make the XB12S anymore!!!! So glad I got my "07! ""

^^^ What??? ^^^

Im rideing an 08 scg,at the time of purchase I sat on the s,Ss etc.I couldn"t see comfort as an issue as Im 5 9" and there all comfortable to me. However my weight and sport rideing should have been .the additional wheel base and travel would be of more use to me than the low center of gravity. so consider your weight and rideing style in your decision.

Reading back over this, it strikes me that the product management of Buells is a little confusing. I'm not sure that the differences between models is all that material, but I'm looking to buy an XB12 and enjoyed a test ride on an 07 Ss (but didn't move quickly enough).

There are lots of STTs on the market now and I can mod one to suit (de-beak, etc), since they are the 'same' as the Ss Longs. Except, I rode a 'short' (07-08) Ss, which is different from the 09+ 'tall' Long, since the Ss took on the STT's tubes and got taller that year.

So, it seems that in 07 & 08 there were 4 lengths of suspension: Scg, S, Ss, and STT. Now, there are only the shortest (Scg) and the tallest Ss(which is the old STT).

The euro-only SX is the old S, and is the same as the XB9SX chassis.

Is that clear? Have I got it? Yah.

5'11", 2009xb12ss. Feet just touch ground on both sides. Like the extra room on bike. personally felt scg was a bit too cramped. Probably just my imagination but felt the smaller wheel base of scg was rougher on roads than SS.

id stay with the 07 primarily for the ease of tuning, etc.

i ordered my 07 special in 08. had to get it trucked to me though.

I bought a new ss for this summer, and wondered for like two months if i would go for the scg or the ss.
But when i saw them standing side by side and got the oppurtunity to try them both there was no doubt the ss at first fits my lenght (182cm) better and the scg looks so much girlier beside the ss wich is fulgrown.. another thing is that i earlier rode a ZX-10R 2005 wich is even 2" (5cm) higher than the ss wich would be like 4" (10cm) higher than the scg..

buy a new 2010...they got the xb12s back, although now they are calling it the xb12sx ;)

That would be great but the 2010 xb12sx is only available in the UK and with 10 less hp.

Strange that they wouldn't release it here in North America
