Change headers? It should fit, right?

I think the header outlet is the same size so it should fit right up, but it may have a different effect on the 9.
for some reason the XB9 is a very different animal, I expect it to be a little different but some pipes are nice on a 12 and crap on a 9 (the race pipe) and some do the same on both (D&D) and others are magic on the 9 and moderate on the 12 (micron)
and the drummer for the 9 is different from the 12 drummer.

I have no idea what needs to be different, but I would guess its that the internal volume or tip size should be smaller. (it really is a guess)

Well, I'm just a guy in a garage hacking away at stainless pipe. I have NO idea what I'm doing, or so I've been told.

I'll probably have to buy an xb12 _and_ an xb9 now.

with the gains your pipes get I figured you were a mad scientist and I had hoped that you would tell me if I was right or wrong on my guess [confused]
I don't understand motorcycle exhaust like I did car exhaust back when I was working on cars for fun.

but I am taking my D&D off my XB9 if you want to have your pipe run on my bike.

Well, I haven't done enough guesstimating on the xb9 yet. I don't have one here to mess with yet, although I am looking around to see what's out there and the average prices are.

older (like my 2003) 9's can go as low as 2.5k if you find the right deal.
a 2004 12 can be as low a 3k

hey Dean-

if I could be so bold as to make a suggestion (im just a hack of a motorcycle rider!): get some kind of front mount/hanger on there. Without it, these bikes are known for snapped header studs, cracked headers, and the exhaust becoming the pole in the pole vault when it all breaks. Not good stuff!

it's looking good, fun to see your skills on our bikes now. :)

This isn't the finalized version, I just figured you guys might like to see the work in progress. I know it needs the bracket, but thanks for reminding me. I'm looking at making some changes to the downpipe as it is, so the bracket was something for later.

I definitely don't want to see someone doing a pole vault on a bike. Doesn't sound like a lot of fun unless you're into stunting.

Gotta get a GoPro. Need it for riding and wheeling.
For now my HD video camera is my Droid. :D
