Someone already asked the question, but I didn't see a response, so sorry if you already answered.

What kind of paint did you use? It looks like a flat black, matching the stock engine scoop. Exactly the look I was going for but failed miserably at.

Your going to laugh, but its just Duplicolor rattle can bed liner. It has a textured look, its easy to repair, and sticks very well if you rough up the plastic a little.

I was kind of figuring something like that. I used the exact same stuff on my primary cover, cam cover, and some accents on my frame. Was contemplating doing the whole bike in it, but i don't really like how gritty it is.

But you are absolutely right, awesome look and easy to repair. Thanks Jornum.

Dave,
No that is the stock Ss fork height. The manual says to set the preload at 7 lines for my weight, but its too soft. I have since tightened it up to 4 lines. Its probably because they are so far out they look strange.

Buellysses,
how did it hold up on the metal parts? I was thinking of doing the same until I can afford to powder the covers.

I had one little chunk flake off my primary cover while powerwashing it. Other then that it's held up really well. That stuff is tough, as long as you do your prep right.

That's one downfall of your situation Jornum, that stuff is really hard to get off once it's on there. If you are going to powdercoat your covers I would advise against coating them with this stuff. Unless you have a sandblaster or something to remove it later.

yeah I do have a blast cabinet, so it wouldnt be a problem.
Though it is late in the season. I have had enough down time the last two weeks. I probably will just wait till over the winter when I can tear everything down and have it coated.
But thanks for the info,

i know this is an older topic posting, but i have say your buell is sweet n wicked, damn cool , i dont think i have seen any firebolts with bar end mirror , i like the look , what kind are your mirrors .

Thanks for the props, I appreciate it.

They are Rizoma class retro mirrors. I cant stand standard mirrors. I had these one when I still had the lightning front end. I dont know if its me but I cant seem crap with the stock location mirrors. All I see are my elbows and forearms! Had the same problem on my 1125 too. Wont ever go back.
