Still having problems with my bike. The battery was bad, so I replaced it with a fully charged one, and went with E3.36 plugs and still doesn't wanna idle, and I can smell its running rich as hell. I'm pretty mad cuz I wanna get it running good for riding season. Checked all fuses and connections. It dies when idling, misses and only seems to hit on 1 cylinder until around 3,500 to redline its totally fine. I took it down the road and 3500 or under it jerks, but when above that it pulls front tire with no problem. Anybody know where to start? The plugs always seem wet when i pull them, it fouled the standard copper cores basically right away. So I'm running rich. I already drained the gas and added efi cleaner and fresh 91 eth free gas. same thing again. Any ideas? It ran fine when parked in the fall, just not now in spring. :(

Maybe try using stock plugs. To me it sounds like your problems started when you changed plugs. Good luck

i'm a firm believer in NGK DCPR9EIX in Ulys and have had a set in my 2007 for 3 years now with perfect results. the DCPR8EIX would be next heat range hotter. since yours is an 08 i'm curious if you did the sparkplug self-cleaning drill as listed below and if you broke or tore a plug wire during install? CEL on at all? these bikes are rich in cold-start mode but should lean out once you get some heat in the motor. this procedure will also be in your owners manual.

2008 XB and 1125R Buell motorcycles provide a feature to help clear residual fuel from the combustion chamber if a flooded engine or fouled spark plugs are suspected. This is achieved by opening the throttle to wide open, setting the Run/Stop switch to Run, then turning the ignition switch ON. This will fire the spark plugs for approximately 4 seconds, burning any fuel left over in the combustion chamber. It may be necessary to repeat this procedure several times to allow a severely flooded engine to start.

NOTE: Motorcycle should be in Neutral

bike does it all by itself. I turned key on with plugs out one day and lol it looked like a taser lol. Pretty blue sparks. engine codes are on like crazy unhooked batt for 24hrs and still on. Dealer said they have to shut it off and clear it otherwise there's no way to other than ecm spy and i don't have that.

Ok checked ecm and where the black female shroud goes into the ecm its cracked :(((. Looking on ebay they are around 150.00 to 200.00. Harley wants 350.00. Then its blank and another 150 to program roughly. I don't however see any ones for my xb12xt. Will the others work? As long as a dealer re programs it? Or is it an exact one? One guy says get a screaming eagle and harley says thats not a ecm just a tuner

When I replaced mine I found a good used one with exactly the same numbers on it that was on the old one. I also used ECM spy and a cable to download the old program from my cracked ecm for safe keeping. It goes without saying ... be careful out there with used ones.

Another option is getting a preprogrammed one from here: EBR ... it's plug and play, except for resetting the TPS.
I don't have one, but people sure seem to like them.
