Hi everyone, I have a 2004 XB12R that I got about a week ago. I have discovered that the bike has not had the headlight recall done yet. I was looking at my lights, and the black piece that attaches to the headlight is cracked. Is this a part that will be replaced during the recall procedure, or should I have them order it in to get replaced at the same time? Out of curiousity, which headlight is supposed to be on with low beam, the right or left (as you sit on the bike)? I have seen lots of photos where the left light is the low beam, and mine is the right. Both are on on high beam. I know that it probably isn't a big deal, I was just curious... I tried a search here and didn't see the answers to these questions. Thanks in advance, I am absolutely loving the Buell!!!!!

Both lights will be replaced. Yes the cracked part will be replaced.

Both lights should be on when the highbeam is on.

Welcome to the forum and the Buell family!

Thanks for such a quick response!! I have had lots of big bore sport bikes (ZX-7, 2 Z-9's, a ZX-10 and a ZX-11) and this is easily my favorite. The V twin is so addictive, and these things really do handle well!!! I was sort of surprised by the cost of replacement parts. A mirror for one of my Kawasakis was over $40, one for my Firebolt was $19.60 from the dealer.. That was a nice surprise!! And thanks for the welcome, I am happy to be here! There is a ton of information here, and hopefully I can learn from the experts here!! Thanks again!!!

Addiction is a very appropriate term!! Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!! I called a dealer and they are ordering the kit in for me. Is it going to be something I can just wait for? I certainly don't want to leave my bike, I'd miss her too much!!!!

Hey, i have the same thing...how do I go about getting the recall for that? Just go to a dealer and say hey I want new stuff...for free?

Well, you might just want to tell your dealer that you heard about the recall in question, and you'd like to know if your bike qualifies; they'll run your VIN to see if your bike has been serviced for that specific recall, if it hasn't, bring it in!

or go to the Buell website > Owners > register > My Bikes > put in VIN, it will tell you.

I'm not 100%, but you may have to try it on Harleys website. Once you log into Buell, you can go to the Harley site and you'll be logged in already.
