Ok, quick background. I bought a salvaged XB9S over three years ago - barely anything useable. Decided to rebuild from ground up only into a XB9R. Project completely finished last year with standard mods e.g. airbox delete, breather reroute, Jardine can, mapped ECM... Yesterday, I fire her up and she sputters to life and idles fine. Bike stalls and dies when clutch is engaged. When the bike was started up for the first time two years ago, it did the same thing. I tracked it down to the kickstand switch. Since my set up didn't have a switch, I just removed the connector and jumped the wires. Problem solved. Now, I have no idea what is happening. Checked the TPS and it's fine. Anyone have a clue???

Recheck your kickstand connections? Make sure still together. Also does yours have a switch at your clutch lever? Neutral light indicates neutral properly? Properly adjusted clutch?

Yes on first three. Kickstand does not have a switch, but wiring harness has a plug. Remember, this bike is assembled from other Buell XB models. When I was sorting things out over a year ago, I had to cut off the kick stand plug (because there was nothing to connect it to) and jump the wires together. No problems after that. Neutral has always been a challenge to find. Ha! But, I'll check that out. Now that this thing is finally road legal, it throws this at me... Go figure.

I haven't had to work on my kickstand switch on my buells but I have played with some on metric bikes and they're not an on/off type of switch. They have a resister built in and will only rev with the kick stand switch hooked up & working. Wiring around didnt work. Hard lesson learned for me so thought I'd pass it along. Hope it helps, like I say haven't messed with mine on my buells but might be worth checking it out.
