Hi all,

I've received an upgrade kit for my '03 xb9r. In the box is a G0500.1aah Belt and a 65tooth rear sprocket with no part #. They both seem to measure at 14mm pitch, however it's extremely tight to fit; with tensioner off the bike and the spindle not in completely I can't seem to get the belt over the rear sprocket easily and I don't want to force it.

If I try and wrap the belt around the rear sprocket it fits snuggly for about a third of the circumference and then the teeth seem to start mismatching which makes me think I've been supplied the wrong rear sprocket- is this likely? Or do you normally need to force new belts to the shape of the pulleys?

First time doing a belt on a buell so I'm pretty cautious!

Thanks,

Just to update I got the belt sprocket and tensioner on with spindle in straight (but untightened) the spindle feels way too tight like it's going to bust the bearings even with no tightening

Just popping back to thank you for the reassurance . The torque wrench was clicking at almost 50nms with the spindle half way in but I got it all the way home and the bike runs fine

With the rear wheel in the air there's a bit of a resistance turning the wheel , I bet it must sap some hp until the belt has slackened up a bit!
