I was looking for those super bright Xenon gas bulbs for my 06 Lightning. I found them at my local auto parts store. They said that all I need to do to run them is put in a new wiring harness. Is this accurate? Will these work without the new harness?, I cant remember if these bulbs are higher wattage or just appear brighter. Any input would help. Thanks

i don't know if those at the auto parts store can handle the buell vibrations.

also, most kits also show a "balast" which should be included.
wattage will differ with colour temp.

Are those HID kits? because I know that you can buy regular bulbs that are Xenon filled.

I don't think you should have to change the wiring harness unless you are converting to HID lamps.

Yeah they're the HID ones. The same as on alot of newer and usually "high end" autos.

I keep hearing this, any car going down the road is getting similar vibrations from the road, I find it hard to buy that they wouldnt work. I know people who have them in old Muscle cars that vibrate alot more than my Buell.

I didn't see that but they did offer a new wiring harness. Maybe its the same thing? I dont know.

the upper box is the ballast thingy

how's the heat of those things?
can a standard headlight mirror take that? i can't understand why this option is so expensive on vehicles, that it would only consist of a different bulb.

but let me know how it turns out, don't have any experience with it.

Im checking with Autozone, they said they have it. H7 is the bulb size on the Lightnings right? If so then yeah they got it, special order and they havent been able to find a cost as of yet. I guess im the first to ask for em [up] they told me that they needed to contact the MFG to get a price and make sure it would all work

ok the kit my friends advise for the conversion is:

which is about 113€ (155$) and is indeed a H7 kit

and you should try ebay here, as they are offered there...

nope, just the kit...they didn't do anything else.

dunno how it is in the long-run, though...longest one is fitted is about 4 months.

hey paster on that link u provided it looks like the motorcycle kit only has 1 bulb in it. Would you need 2 kits for the buells or would the automotive kit work?

if you wanna have 2 burning lights on you buell all the time, remember that the mirrors are different from eachother..

and...i think a xenon high beam does not exist, so why change 2 and lose the beam?

I ll have to find that link. I got it from another list, but, as usual, I'm sure LeFox is correct about low beam/high beam.

im kinda confused? Are you saying that u should keep one the the stock headlights and use the other for the HID or just rip out both and just only use one HID all the time? Is it possible to use 2 all the time? I would think thats the way to go.

yes you can use both, but you'll have to change the mirror of the lh one, since it has a different shape.

and i don't think there's a beam integrated in the xenon bulbs, so you will lose the highbeam.
but that's just a quess, since i don't have any experiance with the hid kit. but it's something to check before installing.
