Hey everyone, first time posting, but have been reading on this forum for quite some time, great knowledge bank!

As the topic says, I have a dent in my frame, 2007 XB12ss. I know some people have filled up their dented frames with putty, sanded it and sprayed it.

The dent happened because the bike was pushed over, so not because of a fall/scrape on the ground.

My question:

A) Is it worth just filling up the dent and putting frame pucks over it?

B) Or is it worth buying a new main frame from the inter webs and replacing it?

If it's option B, I've had a look and came up with this part number: L0600.1ANYBP . Is this the right part number for my bike? How difficult is it to swap out the frame? Anyone have any experience changing the frame?

I found this eBay shop selling frames: eBay Frame

Anyone have any experience buying a frame from eBay?

I know I have a lot of questions, but feeling a bit gutted that my otherwise pristine XB has a dent and a few scrapes! :(

Thanks for any advice!

If it just got knocked over, it sounds like the damage is minor. I'd fix it and puck it or just puck it. "Just puck it" makes me giggle….

Replacing the frame/tank gets a bit jinky because that's where the Vin# is. If you do it yourself, the # won't match your title anymore. Try explaining that to a cop, or your insurance, or a buyer...

I filled a really deep dent on my Uly with aluminum filler. I reused the puck, and refilled with styrofoam, then installed with 3M extreme duty tape. It looks great, expect the frame paint isn't an exact match, but close enough I guess. It was sitting in my office for more than a year!
Then, a couple weeks ago, the bike fell over in the driveway (don't ask), and there was not major damage, really jus the clutch lever ball busting off and some minor scratches on the puck . I do have have longer stainless handlebar ends, though. I think the longer frame of the Uly, Ss, etc. can be a little more prone to denting right under the front lower portion of the puck. Cheers.

I used aluminum filler on mine as well. It turned out really well instead of getting the buell frame paint I repainted the entire frame with dupli-color paint that I liked. I haven't put my pucks on yet I've been waiting on the weather to turn really nice so I can give it another coat or two.

12 oz. rattle can frame touch up paint is 20 bucks at newcastlehd.com or 25 bucks from ASB. fill the dent in and sand smooth to match the frame. primer and paint...reinstall the frame pucks.

Thanks for the info and help guys! A frame puck would fit over the dent, and I have the full glass fiber frame cover sitting on the shelf, so could put that back on.

Cooter, the damage is minor, the dent by far is the worst, mirror broke off, little scratch on the rear frame and the handlebar is ever so slightly bent, and the foot pegs have little scratches.... The "thing" that knocked it over was a van backing up [mad], probably didn't realise and drove off!

Thrstrmech, how easy is it getting the frame off like you did? I'm assuming you have to take off the exhaust, all the plastics, triple tree and rear wheel. Can you leave the engine and swingarm on a stand and lift the frame off?

Again, thanks for your help everyone!

the frame in the pic is a spare I got for free and had very minor dings and scratches. blended to dings out, but created a dimple in the blending process. filled that in with Loctite Hysol...it's like using JB Weld, two part compound, easy to sand and shape, takes primer and paint well. that stuff is used in many applications and I use it at work on flight control surfaces.
