QUIT being stupid and get a copy made and for the love of God and all that is holy put that torque wrench away

Original owner lost the keys, had a new set made, then found the originals. I now have 3 or 4 keys for my bike.

Never used a torque wrench on my bike..........

I only have 1 key and only use torque wrenches on my drain plug

FTW!!!!!!

I had one key. Ordered a blank off ebay, local hardware store cut it for free since I already had the blank.

Wait so you need to use a torque wrench when you turn the key in the ignition?...., does anybody have the in. Lb. spec?...

i had only one key for several years. recently got a spare key cut and then promptly lost the spare key somewhere(only key ive ever lost). Ive been back to only 1 key for a few months now. And I <3 my torque wrenches, I feel so sophisticated when I use them like Im building a space ship or something.

I Rode to Florida back in February. I only had one key. I went to a locksmith and he made a key for me. It cost me $35 plus tax. I thought that was a lot of money, but I figured better safe than sorry. So then I took a trip to the keys to go camping. I stopped at Walmart to get some supplies and lost my key. Unbelievable. Luckily for me I bought that spare key. After my camping trip, I went back to the Walmart and was able to retrieve my lost key from customer service. But having the spare saved me from a ruined trip. That was my first Buell. I am now on my fourth, and this bike came with three keys.

What's a torque wrench??

key blanks if you decide to make extras:

Blast 2000+
Firebolt 2002+
Lightning 2003+
Ulysses 2006+

^^^^blank key...code series: 8001-9554, IIco / Silca: X270-TMC1

Cyclone / Lightning / Thunderbolt 1995-2002

^^^^blank key...code series: HD0001-HD9999, IIco / Silca: 1137B

^^^That deserves all the upvotes on the Internet.... Also I have 2 spare keys and only use a torque wrench for "critical" parts.... (critical parts being something that really needs to be a certain tightness... I. E. Spark plugs, rear axle, front axle, steering head bearings.. Etc)...

I'd say this is a great bit of advice from Lesley.... Just imagine having to wait on a new key blank to come in and taking the numbers off the key cylinder to a local locksmith/keymaker to get a new key cut... All this takes time that you could have been riding if you'd have had a spare key...

Tl;Dr... Do yourself a favor and get a spare key.... Seriously... It'll save you a mountain of a headache...

I use the 200 ft lb torque spec as a good rule of thumb for all bolts on the buell. Maybe even 201 ftlb on the fairing bolts. You can never be to sure. I also use red Loctite on everything. I even put a few drops in my fuel tank before a long ride to keep it going well. here recently I have been running biodiesel in it and it is performing outstanding. Who needs a key when you have a f@cking retinal scanner in the dash board and finger print recognition in the grips.
