In the market for a new bike and just wondered if you guys had any opinions on the bikes above. What is the low end torque like on these comparatively? Comfortable ride? mpg? Any input is appreciated!

looking for 07 and up Z1000, 06 and up S3's, and 06 and up FZ1's (Gen II).

Low end torque compared to a Buell sucks, I've personally ridden a z1000 and if I had another bike it would probably be it. It has so much power, and if tuned is a complete monster

If I was to get a different bike I would get the speed triple. Check out bike.com it has specs on most bikes.

On a Top Gear episode Tanner raced a speed triple with a new vette...(close race)...and Tanner raved about that bike like it was the best there is.

That thing is huge! Thanks for the input guys, hearing positive on all three is a good sign! I'm scanning craigslist daily to try and find one of the three in my price (and driving) range. The S3 may be a long shot as it seems they never come up for sale. The FZ1 is probably my cheapest option. But there is something about the looks of the Z... Dang this is a pickle, from the research I've done on them they all have their pros and cons. I guess if this is the only problem keeping me up nights im doing alright [up]... Keep the opinions coming!

Some of the reviews I've read about the early model FZ1's were not that great. Quirky throttle response was one of the issues that really turned me off. I thought the FZ1 was going to be my next bike but after the reviews I started looking else where. Its not an R1.

Ive test ridden a FZ1. I liked it a lot actually and I thought it had sufficient pull from the bottom. Not like a v-twin. The 1125 feels a lot more powerful down low but thats the nature of a v-twin over an I4. The fz1 pulls hard up top and handles great. Its a very comfortable riding position too. I havent ridden a speed triple or z1000 so i cant compare. As far as I4 bikes are concerned im a honda fan so I would want a CB1000R I think. And no i dont mean a cbr, im talking about the cb. They told me at the honda dealer last year they dont make a cb1000r and i bet him the price of the bike that they do. He didnt give me the bike for free after looking it up on the website.

I haven't rode any of these but I wanted a Speed Triple so bad, but couldn't afford and got the Buell. Love the sound and idea of the triple motor. The Z1000 does looks sick though!! So I say the Triple or Z based on never riding either lol..

the FZ1 I'm guessing is kind of like the R1? which I used to have and those motors are monsters, but in my opinion not very fun on the street. I thought R1 was only fun when you were screaming in the RPMs and by then you're doing 140 before you know it merging onto the freeway.

the fz1 is tuned completely different than the r1. lower peak power but much more rideable. same thing across the board with the naked bikes

I test rode all three. I walked away with a 2013 Z1000. The bike is a total beast, with huge quantities of low end power relative to other Japanese bikes, and incredible performance at the price point. It was a no brainer.

The more reviews I look at the more I'm turned off of the FZ, even with the tweaked engine it seems like its pretty tame in the lower RPM's and it still requires you to rev it up a ways to get to the meat of the rev range (this is based off of never riding one just several motorcycle websites) and its not truely a naked IMO. I'll probably test ride the first Triumph or Z1000 that pops up in my area and if I like it I'll take it home. Too bad they seem to be going for the price of gold all the sudden.

After much research and soul searching.... My motorcycle search has ended with a shiny new toy

I picked up a 09 Aprilia Shiver this weekend, I decided a 1000cc wasn't a necessity so I opened up search to these and there was one somewhat close by. Went and test rode it and loved it! I'm pretty excited other than the 2 inches of snow that fell this weekend and my team losing in the NCAA tourney. Hopefully next week brings warmer weather!
