Sent an email saying I can pick it up at his convenience with cash in hand. I will have my pistol in the other too, but what a deal if it was real :D

Gotta be a mistake. Didn't just drop a "0" though. $28K for a 3 year old Ducati that wasn't that much new?
Or the bike is stolen or a repo and they don't know what it is worth.

i sent an email and this is the reply i got... Sounds like a SCAM to me......

Hi I'm Jeff Roland,
I am sorry for the delay in my answer but I have been very busy these days.
First of all this beautiful 2008 Ducati Superbike 1098S is my personal bike. This bike has been meticulously maintained and has only 7,701miles. The oil has been changed religiously every 2k miles with Motul 300V and K&N Filters. Just recently, the front & rear brake pads were replaced with Galfer 1003 Compound Pads. The brake and clutch fluids were flushed with Motul RBF660 DOT 4 Brake Fluid, the coolant was flushed with Maxima Coolanol, and the chain was adjusted and lubed. The front tire was just replaced with a Michelin Pilot Power 2CT and still has the threads on it and the rear tire has about 30% of its tread left. Included with the bike are 2 Keys, DDA, Immobilizer Card, Bike Cover & Battery Tender. The paint and body are in immaculate condition and believe me this is a very strong running bike. I am forced to sell my bike ASAP because I need money to pay the mortgage on my house. As you know in these days many people confront with the financial crisis so I've decided to let this beautiful bike go.
You will find more pics on my photobuket account: http://s1183.photobucket.com/albums/x475/roland-08ducati/
If you decide to buy it, you'll receive all the papers, owner manuals, 2keys, a buy-sell contract already signed by me and the clear title. For this transaction I want to use ebay because I want to provide you a fast and very secure way. They will handle the transaction for me. You will make the payment to ebay and they will hold the money until you receive and inspect the bike. ONLY AFTER you receive and inspect it (you have 5 days for inspection) ebay will release the payment to me. The inspection time period will begin as soon as you receive the bike at your address. Meanwhile eBay will hold the money into a trust account. So, this is not a blind transaction, you can see the bike before you decide to buy it. This way we are both protected : I will know that I have a serious buyer who has the money to pay me and you will be able to see and inspect the bike before buying it .
The bike is priced to sell quickly and the final price that I'm asking for it is $2,800.00 including shipping and handling costs. I can't afford to take days off my work for this sale so I'm trying to sell it online. If you are really interested in purchasing the bike please reply to this email and I will provide further instructions regarding payment and delivery."

I see those all the time on CL. The give away is the email address in the body of the email and the price. They always use some odd price. 2351, 3820, etc...

These people need a go 'ol ass whoopin. Where's Roy D Mercer when we need him.

Ohhh man. I can get like 3 Ducati's with this cash I have coming from my lost uncle in Nigeria!

Sweeeeeeet.

if it sounds fishy it probably is. I sold some furniture on CL and heard from some knucklehead who was out of town but REALLY wanted what I was selling. He offered to mail me a cashiers check for more than the purchase price and I could then give him the difference back. yeah sure, BIG Scam: they send you a fake cashiers check and try to cash it.

What is with those damn emails?? I get those all the time in my spam folder, yeah like I am going to believe I have some lost uncle in Nigeria who was this wealthy person. Ofcourse all they need is my drivers license number, address, and name to process my payments...

I had a guy want to buy my PS3 and he clamed he was an Oceanographer and was out at sea. He wanted me to mail it to his son in west Africa via my local post office and he would mail me the Money order for $200 more than my asking price just for my troubles. I asked him if he knew what paypal was and never got a response......LoL :D
