So I did the captain Ron mod kinda. Knocked 3 -1/4 inch holes through the exit port with a long screwdriver. Now idles like crap and misses when I hit the throttle sometimes in neuteral. I need help. Can I JB weld the holes back for now? I am gonna get the Hawk mod done sometime, but just dont have the funds for the race ecm right now and the price of the exhaust mod. Some advice would be great. I feel stupid for even attempting this.
 
What year is your bike. If it's pre-'08, I'd send it to Hawk since he can fix/mod the pipe as well as re-map your ECM. As always, to get the max out of your exhaust mod, you need a hi-flow air filter and custom remap - but the above will get you back on the road for now.
 
looks are not the option right now,if it is just as a temp fix,weld in some fender washers or something of that nature,then fill in the small holes in the middle of the washer,have seen it done,it will get you by.
 
Yep need to weld it up. Jb weld will not hold up under the Heat. Hopefully theres a good welder near you somewhere. This way once you are ready to spend the funds you can Enjoy the Hawk Exhaust.
 
I just got my hawk exhaust and it is fan frickin tastic.

it was cheap compared to all the others and i didnt have to do anything to my ecm and my bike is running ten times better.

So, I went to the auto store today and found some stuff called ThermoSteel. it says it cold welds for temps up to 2400 degrees. Hopefully this will work. I am gonna have to wait to do it on Saturday. The directions say to allow 4-6 hours to cure then start engine and it will cure the rest of the way.
 
So I ended up using Permatex muffler and tailpipe putty. I did a test run of the thermosteel on a piece of metal and it just flacked off once it got hard, that stuff is not worth the money. So I filled my holes with the putty let it dry for 24 hours then applied another coat and waited 12 hours. It was a bit tacky so I let the bick idle for about 20 minutes and hardend right up. Hopefully this works out untill I get my bike trailer sold to have the dough to send my pipe to Randy. As soon as my tags get here I will take her for a ride and see how she holds up. Thanks
 
Take it out and ride it at above 3000 rpms for about 20 minutes, then see what it does. I will probably run fine. If it won't compensate for that small a change in exhaust, it won't accept a Hawk muffler. It will however, just do the learn in ride.
